I took my 7 y/o son and my 5 y/o daughter to see Phantom Menace yesterday. My son thoroughly enjoyed it. He was amused to see the E.T.'s in the senate scene. My daughter was a little frightened even though she has seen this movie before.
I enjoyed the movie, moreso than when it was originally released. I think we all had that 16 year build up since the ROTJ. Everybody was expecting something beyond what was probably even possible.
The 3d effects were minimal and didn't take away or add much to the movie.
The special effects still seem current. The movie doesn't appear to me 13 years old. I hope they re-release the the original 3. Whether I have it on Blu-ray or not, nothing beats seeing the movies in a theatre with 200 hundred other fans.

I still wonder how Qui-Jon Jinn was able to cut through the blast doors on the Viceroy ship with his Lightsaber, yet Luke was not able to figure this out in the trash compacter years later.

I saw the Phantom Menace at the Coronet Theater in San Francisco...and San Francisco's population is one third Asian...and when those Trade Federation dudes started speaking...I could vividly hear the gasps and laughter from the audiences...it was one for the ages...lol.

I remember Toyfare's Twisted Mego Theater where Mego Spider-Man rants in the senate at how un-original the film was. The Trade Federation aliens hand him Chinese take-out. Mego Superman mistakes the Chancellor for Zod in disguise and breaks his neck. Jar-Jar is eaten by Ewoks. Good times, good times.

I'm expecting Jaws to do well during its re-release.
I'll certainly be there on opening day.

The re-release of the original SW Trilogy to theatres in 1997 exceeded all expectations (even Lucas didn't expect them to do so well).

However, it all depends on the movie.
Spielberg was very disappointed with the lacklustre response to the theatrical re-release of ET back in 2002.

(Admittedly, a lot of people didn't like the fact that it was a special edition which had crazy changes like replacing the FBI agents' guns with walkie-talkies.)

If Spielberg does indeed resist the urge to tinker with Jaws, then this should be a momentous occasion indeed.

Yeah, I went there. It's sucked with "2D", I posted about that in my TMM.

The other night ago, I went to Theater and I noticed it has a poor screen with 2D.

It said "3D" on the TV break preview and poster, it's not. That looks 2D to me, it's sucked.

Also, I noticed they added animated Yoda and few more. Glad they replaced a horizontal lump lips puppet, lol.

            I Preferred S.W part 4 - 6, hope they'll add 3D comes out soon!!

I had a choice today, take my son and his BFF to Phantom Menace or take my daughter to see "mysterious island".

My wife is still in Phantom Menace....

I got invited to see this today along with my uncle and some other relatives, I had nothing else planned, so decided "what the heck". Overall I thought the 3D was pretty underwelming, probably as to be expected for a film that was not shot with 3D in mind to begin with. Personally, I though the film looked better watching it in HD on Blu-ray at home (and that didn't cost me $25 for a movie ticket plus drink and popcorn). The 3D trailer to "John Carter" looked pretty cool though. My cousin's son (does that make him my second cousin?) and his friend were really excited though. They are young so this is the first time they saw any Star Wars movie on the big screen.

Saw it yesterday, had it's moments. jar jar was maybe even worse than I remebered. A little guy (maybe 4 or 5) sitting beside us, asked his mom if they could go after maybe an hour. Although it's seems to be the Star wars film geared towards the youngest audience in tone, it's also probably the most confusing for kids.

The ads for John Carter in 3D were stunning, I officially have my hopes up.

first cousin, once removed... The removed is generational up or down. So he also refers to you as first cousin, once removed.

Second cousin to you is the offspring of your parents' cousin.

Thanks for the relative lesson! So then, what are my parents' cousins to me? Great-cousins? Or grand-cousins? I have several, and never know as to how I should properly refer them.

I wish I could have a crappy weekend that only netted 7.8 Million.

Who am I kidding, if I had a weekend that would net me $7.80 I'd be cool

^^^ For personal income of course. For a movie, not so good. It also underscores how little appeal remains for this once celebrated installment. I imagine the next two prequels will find similar results. But when you get to the original Star Wars, then you might see some notable business.
