Saw it last night and I have to admit actually enjoyed it much more than when I originally saw it in the theater. Probably because I was able to focus on things about "Star Wars "I like being on the big screen again rather than the silliness. The opening crawl, Tatooine (and the Jawa/Tusken Raider cameos it brought with it), Jedis, Light saber duels ,R2D2 things like that. Also heard a lot so kids in the background having a great time. People actually were clapping and cheering at the end of the movie as well. I still won't be whipping out the DVD any time soon, but I can;t have the venom for it I used to. It's still the weakest installment so it only gets better from here!

I'm blind in my left eye so 3D has never meant anything to me. As far as seeing this one (or any of them for that matter) on the big screen again, probably not. I loved Star Wars as a kid... enjoyed the special editions and re-birth of the 90's BUT the prequels and Lucas' attitude have turned me cold. I'm not hating on him for doing what he does with his creation but I just can't support it anymore. If my son wants to see any of them I'll work it out so he can go with some cousins or friends but as for me I gotta sit this tweaked nostalgic run out.Comment

now see, i think AOTC is the weekest movie. i liked PM, but I probably won't dish out the cash to go see it just for 3d....not that i am not interested, just don't feel like going to see a movie i already have on DVD, just to see some subtle 3d effectsComment

When Phantom Menace came out in 1999, I actually liked it because going to the theater and seeing it on screen provided a needed escape from the stressful and depressing work I was experiencing at the time. Since that time, I've grown kind of indifferent to it. I may check it out to see if anything new was added.Comment

according to GL, this version is the same as what was just released on Bluray, except in 3d. so it is the same movie just tweaked with CGI Yoday instead of the puppet and some of the effects cleanup upComment

I was new to working at the theater in 99 when it came out. I worked the Box Office opening day. It was a fun atmosphere. I felt bad for this one lady... She came in 15 minutes before the 7pm(ish) show to buy tickets for herself and her kids. I of course had to tell her it was sold out. It had been for literally 2 months. She was so confused as to how this could be possible. It was like she had never heard of Star Wars. Her son wasn't amused. He was like "I told you mother!"
This time around my theater didn't even get the movie. I hear it's not doing too well.Comment

So I read $23 million was the weekend gross and in 4th place still alot of $$$$$ to give Lucas but it seems the hardcore fans are sending a message dont release the rest of them in 3D !Comment

I would be first in line to see the originals in 3D. It's too bad they started with the crappy trilogy.
(but then I work at the movies so I don't pay to see them)Comment

A total worldwide gross of $43.5 million for the first few days.
Not bad for the re-release of a 13 year old movie.
That moves TPM up to number 5 on the all time box office chart.
Other info if anyone's interested: "Of those buying tickets, 60 percent were males, while 49 percent were under the age of 25."Last edited by Bruce Banner; Feb 13, '12, 5:23 AM.PUNY HUMANS!Comment

I actually think this was the best of the of 3 new movies. The only downfall of this movie is when Darth Maul is killed, he should have been in all 3 movies and Anakin should have killed him. Having young obi wan kill him is like having young skywalker kill Darth Sidious. I seen the movie in 3-D and I will never go to a regular movie theater to see another 3-D movie. The only thing that looked cool was the opening scroll. Imax is the only way to go for 3-D.Comment
