    Blade Runner, NEW Movie...Thoughts?

I thought it might be fun to speculate about Ridley Scott's new Blade Runner Movie.

My take:I LOVE Blade Runner, it's one of my favorite films(with the narration). So naturally I was a little apprehensive about a new sequel(or prequel?). But, knowing it will be Ridley Scott made feel a little better. I don't think Rick Deckard will be back(it's probably for the best, because I don't want to see Harrison Ford re-cast).

So, I'm thinking a new character. I think there's two ways they could do this...(1.) A rookie Blade Runner who has yet to develop any sympathy about "retiring" replicants. (2.) Or, another older veteran Blade Runner who has grown weary of killing.

My choice is for the seasoned Vet. And knowing how Directors often like to work with the same actors...my choice is Russell Crowe. I think he could capture the feeling of the original, but bring something new to his character. Plus, he's played a similar part before(L.A. Confidential).

    What do you guys think?

I like Bladerunner enough that I'll probably see it in the theater if it gets made as long as it's not a remake and doesn't have actors I don't like in it. However, I wish they'd just leave Bladerunner alone. Why tinker with a classic? It went so well for George Lucas. (I guess maybe it did considering he's probably made another billion dollars off those terrible prequels.)

I think Eric Bana could pull off Deckard.

I have no idea how this happened, but I've never seen Blade Runner. I literally do not know how I missed it for the last 30 years or so. I suppose I'll have to rectify that huge injustice of cinema. Maybe it's on Netflix streaming...

I agree with that, but regardless...it's going to happen because Ridley Scott wants to do it. So if it's gonna get made, I hope they do it well. Probably should start with an entirely new character. Deckard's story is finished...let him retire in peace.

Blade Runner is one of the best sci-fi films ever...I'll definitely check a new version if it ever happens.

I think Blade Runner has always been more of A cult classic than commercial hit. I think a remake at this stage is appropriate and could be quite good.

BLADE RUNNER may NOT have been a commercial hit, but between it and ALIEN, Ridley Scott sort of helped to make the science fiction genre and bit "harder" than it had been since probably 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY. This is one movie that I will always adore!!!

I am with you. I found myself very bored when I watched the original.

what's the word on it? remake? sequel? Really liked the original, especially if you look at it as a film noir cyberpunk sort of thing. I could easly see this plot redone set in the 40's with Bogart as the detective and Sterling Hayden in the villain slot.

I just want an accurate adaptation of Do Andriods Dream of Electric Sheep - Blade runner is a very different story than the book (Scott never read the original story before making the film and Dick didn't adapt it to screen but I love it for it's cinematics the world it created was awesome. Really only a few character names are the same but Rick in the book is a far more average guy with much more empathy to the androids than Harrison's character has (at least until the end)

Similarly we can remember it for you Wholesale is the nugget that became Total recall but are very very different
I am a huge Phillip K Dick fan but Androids (to me at least) isn't even his best story I have to reccomend the Thre Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch and The Pentultimate Truth
