I still kinda wonder if its to soon after the series ended. Maybe not in Hollywood years.

The old Galactica was fine for its day...but they are right...too Star Warish.

I vividly remember the very first time I saw Galactica back in the late 70s...I said to myself..."this is a Star Wars wannabe"...lol.

Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed it...not hating here.

But the latest Sci-Fi version will work better for today's audiences in the big screen...unless it's strictly targeted at a G/PG crowd...which I highly doubt Singer would want to go there.

        My two cents.

Bradley Cooper as Starbuck. He has previous experience playing Dirk Benedict characters, to boot. Apollo, maybe Billy Zane?

Because of my kids, I want a fun, bubble-gum version of Battlestar rather than a SyFy re-make. When I was a kid, I had original Trek, Space 1999, Battlestar, Star Wars, and it was fun to draw pictures of the ships, get the toys, et al. I want them to have some of that good time, new sci-fi, feel that I had.

I followed the new version, but do not have cable so did not watch every episode, but I'm pretty sure none of them were kid friendly. Folks criticize Lucas for catering to kids too much, but I would rather see that than Yoda and a Wookie doin' it.
            It's all good!

I've been hoping they'd go back to the original series and not incorporate any of the Sci-fi series into it. They need to go back to the source or otherwise you are getting a waterdown adaption of an adaption. The SciFi series, love it, hate it, indifferent to it, was pretty much BSG in name ony as it was.
It would be not so bright of Singer to ignore the hit series from Moore. Glad to hear it won't be a remake of the 70's show.

One problem with basing it on the Sci-fi series is, that show had a beginning and an end it was a complete story arc.

Personally I'd rather see a Galactica with the look and feel of the original show just updated a bit.

The writer is very vague on which version of Galactica he is writing for. His quote is confusing too:

I’m a huge fan of the original series and of the second show, too. But I always thought the first show was a little too heavily reliant on Star Wars, you know? Whereas I think the second show was really original and really cool.

And I think I’ve come up with a way to write this movie that won’t f- any of that up. I’m not sure how much they want me to talk about it. Let’s just say it’s not what you expect. It will all work in the universe that exists. It will not conflict with anything Ron Moore has done.
Which universe? He doesn't nail it down! Then he says it wil not conflict with what Ron Moore did but doesn't say if it's new Galactica or old! What's the point of re-visiting Ron Moore's Galactica? It's done. It had an ending. Even Star Wars stopped being Star Wars when the prequels were made. Maybe what we need is a little Star Wars homage`/lovin'.

You know if he gets this right , this could be a modern day star wars.....the original three , not ep 1-3 , but he must stick to the original concept.

I can't stand the modern bsg , very cold , bland series.....will someone tell me what is going on with film makers that think having a vibrating camera and zooming in and out of shot is somewhat cool? , it looks like a novice has filmed it.

He must read up on the source material , if he gets this wrong he's finished.

I don't want to turn this into a bash on Superman Returns or Singer. Singer has made some amazing movies (Usual Suspects and Apt Pupil). But I can't shake the feeling that he is not the right guy to helm the BSG franchise...

imagine if they returned to models and DID use some techniques from the original starwars. right there it would be more interesting than most movies made in recent memory. it would be easier now that everythings digital.

                                Okay, let's go with it.

If Singer isn't the right person for the BSG movie, then who would you suggest?
