Big Bang Theory unaired Pilot

Some surprising bits from the unaired pilot of The Big Bang Theory... particularly given how Sheldon's character has evolved since then to be much more asexual. No Raj or Wolowitz. "Penny" is "Katie" who's more street smart and messed up. Also includes a female nerd friend who was dropped, arguably an early version of Sarah Gilbert or Mayim Bialik's characters.

I'd never watched this show before, but since it's now in syndication and seems to be constantly on 5 different channels, it's been unavoidable.

Regarding the Howard character, apparently when you're a nerd, you dress and cut your hair like it's 1966? I don't get it..

I know I should turn in my nerd card, but I just started watching this show. All of my friends told me I desperately needed to. I wanted to. But it's 8 o'clock time slot just didn't jibe with my kids schedule. I knew it was too racy for them. Thanks to a DVR and lots of re-runs now airing on TBS and elsewhere, I'm finally getting in on this. What a great show!

I think the creators are trying to get the broad spectrum of nerds on display. Leonard is the most "normal" person, who is almost capable of mingling with normal society. Howard is the guy who doesn't recognize his nerdom, therefore he dresses in a style he thinks is cool and hip, but it's outdated, and he's too nerdy to make it hip. Raj is the fish-out-of-water nerd foreign character. And Sheldon is...well, Sheldon is a pretty unique character. One of the few TV has created in the last 20 years or so.

I cant imagine, anyone who enjoys sci fi, cant love all the cross over stuff involved with this show. It may be a little fringy for straight Sci Fi guys but its deffinately relateable, and a great subject to share here. Thanks for the post guys. This show is great, and still running new episodes.....now thats awesome. And all the toys they show, and the super hero knowledge that goes on...this show topic could have fallen in several forums.
