I'm sure that Sheldon would find the perfect answer why this thread should have its own section, Sheldonia.
There is so much SciFi in this show, from remarks to guest actors to SW and Trek figures that are all over the set, I think this is the perfect spot here.
Sheldon would explain it like this:

"In the winter, this spot is close enough to the radiator to remain warm and yet not so close as to cause perspiration. In the summer, it's directly in the path of a cross breeze created by opening windows there and there. It faces the television at an angle that is neither direct, thus discouraging conversation, nor so far wide to create a parallax distortion..."
    .
    .
    .
"When things are at their darkest, it's a brave man that can kick back and party."

I finally got to watch some of this unaired pilot. It would be interesting (and fun) for them to somehow use this in the show, as a nod to what Trek did with "The Cage". Perhaps one of them could ruminate on an alternate reality or something?

The lady at the clinic was the same lady in the episodes where Howard has an allergic reaction to peanuts, and where he gets a robot hand stuck on his...appendage.

        >And Theodore Cleaver really loved cowboys and indians, but that didn't make Leave it to Beaver a western

It's a show about a group of hardcore, stereotypical nerds who get more play than a basketball team. If THAT'S not sci-fi, I don't know what is....

I think that howards clothing is far closer to the late 70's than 1966. If they have ever explaine why he wears retro clothes i missed it but they have mentioned more than once he stopped growing at age 13. In conjucntion to the time his father abandoned his mother I suspect that they are clothes of his from that time or before that haven't worn out or were his fathers. And Like howard's outdated mod 90's look there was a period when the 70's fashions were "hip" (think Black Crowes in the late 80's early 90's) so Howard may think he looks cool.

I love this show but often my daughter has no idea why I laugh at stuff (like Raj's 42 Hat in the first episode
