I don't know if you would consider it sci-fi, I really don't read alot of it . But Jurrasic Park was awesome. MUCH better than the movie. -
I think it would have to be War of the Worlds
or one of the two books that i'm reading at the moment
The Day of the Triffids - John Wyndham
or
The Hobbit.
Another favorite book that I've read this year (not Sci-Fi) is
Things fall apart - Chinua AchebeLeave a comment:

"A Princess of Mars"
Read it several times ove rhte years, to myself and out loud to my kids. Romance, adventure, strangeness, loyalty, friendhsip . . . old fashioned, perhaps, but a great read.Leave a comment:

Watchers by Dean Koontz... I love dawgs and it's main character is a dawg. Good story too- feel bad for the nemesis.Leave a comment:

As of this afternoon, I've decided that my favorite is "Repent Harlequin." It won over "Ender's Game" because I can't manage to be anywhere on time, so I feel connected to the Harlequin character. (My husband is reading over my shoulder and told me this is not something to brag about
) If I ever meet Harlan Ellison, I'm going to give him a bag of jelly beans.

Hmmmm....
I don't read too much fiction; the only stuff I read regularly (or DID read) is the "Perry Rhodan" series. (I've read the first 150 or so... the ones they did in English.)
But if I gotta pick ONE it'd be "Mostly Harmless" by Douglas Adams.
