This is EXCELLENT news. From what I've seen of it, it looks like this APES film is gonna have the heart that Burton's version was lacking! Who knows, it may be a summer sleeper hit!
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.
My own new Apes thread is now looking better than ever...
I kinda figured this would make you a Happy Happy Hector!

As a non-Ape fan for, well, my entire life, I can say I am intrigued by this. Hector's post with the long clip really looks good.
However, logic starts creeping into my interest and questions arise about the feasibility of the plot. Even if all those apes suddenly were granted extra brain power, they would still have to learn and study. You don't just put a new brain into an animal and it starts doing trigonometry. It certainly doesn't come up with military and fighting strategies. It has to learn those skills. They may explain this in the film.
Also, I'm pretty sure humans outnumber simeans by at least a minimum of 2-3000 percent, and we have all the cool weapons.
I dunno, it may be a good film. I just have some plausibility issues. Of course, coming from someone who liked Green Lantern, my hesitation probably should be taken in context. I sincerely hope the movie is great.
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.
If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.

I'm glad that you indeed LIKED Green Lantern. MIB41 and I both enjoyed it thoroughly and if the extended piece of ROTPOTA and the brief TV spots I've been seeing are any indication, I have a feeling I'm gonna be liking this one, too. Heck, this one might even make me cry...!

I love the Apes and will watch whatever they put out....even liked Burtons film
but this new one really looks good and , you know, James Franco is really a good actor. gives some clout to the movie. should be one hell of a ride. i am really looking forward to it
Man, I just went back and re-watched the clip that Hector has the link to in his APES post and I gotta tell ya----Serkis just knocks this one outta the ballpark gang. The humanity and compassion and concern that shines in Caesar's eyes at the end for John Lithgow [and likely for himself, as well] is just so dam* good. You have to wonder which one is the savage---him or the a$$hole with the Mustang who has NO understanding at all of Lithgow's condition....

Yeah...you'd be right...just like my point of a worldwide zombie scenario I've made in the past...they wouldn't be much of a threat...Zombies would be toast in no time...many factors would decimate the walking dead...human intellect and organization, weaponry, mother nature (the extreme elements, hot, cold, etc...), large bodies of water, wild animals, flesh-eating bacteria/decomposition (once the muscle rots, and the bones disintegrate, now what, lol), and on, and on, and on...
We have to suspend disbelief...it's science fiction/fantasy after all...
