I wasn't confused by what you meant when you wrote "Star Wars". No one was.

You’re right. The second I hear someone refer to “Episode IV” or “A New Hope” I know it’s time for me to leave the discussion because the conversation will be about a universe that really never existed prior to George Lucas becoming a true control freak.

It's (somewhat) admirable to take a stand for what you believe in...
but...uh there's 6 STAR WARS movies... and on the very boards where
40 year olds whine about movies existing, the films get talked to death...
so, it's a lot easier to refer to the "original Star Wars movie" as ANH
or Ep. 4--- so there's less confusion... gripes & Yoda soup be damned.

    5. The Return of the Empire Strikes Back

I think that's all of them, right?
    You forgot:
A New Hope of the Sith: The Prime Council’s Prometheus Addendum Adventure

    1. Empire
    2. Star Wars
    3. Jedi
    4. Droids Cartoon
    5. Hardware Wars
    6. Ewok Adventure
    7. Holiday Special
    8. Howard the Duck
    9. A trip to the dentist
    10. Punch in the throat
    11. Revenge of the Sith (re-arrange the letters in "SITH" and it becomes more accurate)
    12. That other one
    13. The first one

Bought the prequels on DVD in an honest attempt to understand them, hoping maybe the commentary would help. Nope. Characters still have no personality, plot still convoluted.

If you thought the other two were OK... odds are you'll love Sith as I did
because it is the only one of the 3 that (to me) is a prequel in a pure "direct"
sense... the film kinda ends on a "Star Wars 1977" note altho' the
official time distance is a large 19 years. The whole film retains that
vibe much better than 1 & 2 IMHO.

Yeah.... well... the haters would enjoy you believing Lucas directed
HOWARD THE DUCK, when Willard Huyck actually was the one who did.

The haters lambast Howard so bad you'd think it was Plan 9... and you'd also think that Lucas was more involved than producing it... mostly to
    show off LucasFilms' SFX.

And we all know AMERICAN GRAFFITI was a solid film no matter who says what.

Fine legacy with or without the STAR WARS films... and redoing them
doesn't mean Lucas totally disavows the originals.... why work on them
again then? It's just to make a great thing greater... I'm sure Lucas would agree.

I'd remember him as the guy who was the entire 9th unit for Raiders, that had most of his footage cut but helped fund the project.

I've avoided watching the prequels until just a few days ago. I finally watched episodes I & II and I didn't think that they were nearly as awful as a lot of fans make them out to be.

I was 12 years old when the original Star Wars came out. I consider myself to be a fan of the original trilogy, but I'm not a fanatic. Star Wars isn't my religion like it is with some people.

I'll watch 'Sith' in a couple of days. I still haven't watched any of the expanded editions of the original three films, but I probably will one day, out of curiosity, if nothing else.
