    Dr Who Cliffhanger Tonight

Tonights the night, in a few hours we get the mid season cliffhanger and it promises to be a cracker with all sorts of reveals linking to previous seasons and no doubt lots more questions to be answered.

I think this is going to be the sort of episode i like.

    The trailer did look good.
Is there any truth to the statement that Moffat supposedly said "The Daleks have been done to death, we're never going to use them again (as long as I'm in charge)"?

Here in the US we get last weeks episode tonight.

Memorial day backed everything up --- BBC America admitted they didn't want to air a new episode on Memorial day (for fear of weak ratings)

Yes Moffat has said he will not use the Daleks again as they have been done to death. His thinking is that they have lost so many times against the Doctor that if they saw him coming they would be off, they allways lose so there is no suspence in that.

It's weird they're taking a break this close to Season 6 Part 1 coming out on DVD.

I read that Moffat said in DrWho Mag, that he will not use the Daleks this year, they will reappear in 2012 with a new look. So thats the official word from him.

Why is the BBC doing a Hiatus for the show? this has never been done, and it is to much of an American thing in my mind. The seaso is to short as it is, maybe if it ran like a regular American show 23 episodes a season, then this would work. As it is I do not like it.(the wait)

P.s. Good episode, liked the Tardis one (The Doctor's Wife) better, but this one ties with it or is slightly below it. What ya all think.

Also, All the hoopla that the USA was finally in syn with the UK, has been dumped out the door for now we are one week behind, NOT BLOODY GOOD MATES!!!!!!!

Moffatt discussed in Doctor Who Magazine that he wants the show to be on the air more of the year so he is using the summer as a break point where he can introduce an extra cliffhanger. He thought this was good so he can have 1 cliffhanger before the summer and an even bigger finale` in the fall at the end of the season.

I say if you want to have more Doctor Who throughout the year make more episodes per season! Or, since Doctor Who has many Doctors to choose from, why not expand like Law & Order in the US and have new stories for Paul McGann. 1/2 the year for the current Doctor and 1/2 the year for the 8th Doctor. Try it out for a few years.

I loved tonight's episode. Really good.

My only spoiler-don't read it if you don't want to know!!!

I just watched it on youtube.

It was ok but it's episodes like this that make me long for the old classic days when stories had no cliffhangers, no story arcs and no purposefully done "epic" feel.

HAW! What's funny about that is: you can actually see that attitude int he show! Hence stuff like the Human Dalek, where they were trying to recreate whatever it is that let's humanity just win all the time.

I liked it, but I felt the whole thing was a bit rushed.
With all this going on, I would have thought that the Doctor getting his allies together and the actual fight would have been more elaborate. If they could spend two eps on doppelgangers, I would have liked to have seen more of this conflict.

When they got to the big River Song reveal, I wasn't really shocked. I mean, in SF movies, everybody is somebody else's surprise father/mother/son/cleaning lady.
I find the River Song concept a bit boring, actually.

But still, I liked the episode, and the hiatus is pretty inconvenient IMO.

As for reinventing the Daleks once again. Yawn!!!!
What are they going to have now? Legs? A trolley cart behind them for their shopping? Didn't they reinvent their look last season already?

I agree, where were the Sontaran and Cyberman fleets?
Battle of Demons run? Not what i'd call it.

A lot of people seem to forget the Daleks didn't make all that many appearances on Classic episodes.
Many Classic Doctors only had 1 Dalek story including ...

                            Sly McCoy
                            Colin Baker
                            Peter Davison

Heck, Tom Baker's 7 year stretch only produced 2 Dalek stories.

True. Why don't they reinvent them...back to the way they were? The way everybody has loved them for 50 years.
