Initially, I didn't like the idea of there being a SW live action TV series. For me, the rightful place for SW should always be the big screen.

But of course, if it's made, I'll watch it.

The premise of the SW TV series is supposedly to feature non primary characters against the backdrop of the galaxy making the transition from Republic to Empire, and the beginnings of the Galactic Civil War.

There's a lot of hope in SW fandom that this will cover stuff like the remaining Jedi being hunted down by the Empire (although it most probably won't feature Vader doing the hunting), and maybe a lot of stuff like bounty hunter stories showing the galaxy's grittier, seedier side.

But I guess we aren't going to find out for a good few years now.

A really great script trumps all technical limitations. Just saying.

I'd rather see a show in the Clone Wars style featuring Luke, Han, and Leia. I'm tired of the Prequel Universe and would like to go back to the Original for awhile. I do really like the Clone Wars show and it's style. I haven't been able to watch the show on a regular basis so I just have to fill in the gaps as I go.

My guess is, he probably means getting rid of all human actors and completely doing it in CGI.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I'm hoping for a character called Qui-Gon Gin&Tonic, the falling down drunk Jedi...

I don't know if I can go that far but a great script makes it easier to ignore flawed effects but great effects can't make up for a bad script

GL needs to wake up and realize the fans don't want more prequel stories.....we want classic trilogy continuation.....an animated show picking up a few years after Jedi would be awesome and I bet he could even get Mark Hammel and maybe Carrie Fisher to voice their characters

At this point, George needs to stick to PRODUCING entertainment, not writing and directing it. When George took a step back and let someone, say, Irvin Kershner, direct and lead the way, magic would happen. And George is still a great overall idea man, but he gets caught in weird minutia, detail, and has the lamest names for characters anymore. So I had a LITTLE hope for the TV show since I heard he would write and PRODUCE the show, not direct every episode.

And a series of Star Wars tales certainly CAN be interesteng. The Clone Wars series, and even moreso the Genndy Tartakofsky Clone Wars series were far superior in story, content, and character development than any and all of the prequel films.

                            My 2 centavos.

A few interesting parts from a recent interview with producer Rick McCallum about the SW TV series:

“The TV series is on hold... We have 50 hours of third-draft scripts, but the problem we have is there is a lot of digital animation; we don’t have the technology yet to be able to do them at a price that is safe for television. Since we would be financing them, it would be suicide for us to do this [now]. So we are going to wait three or four years”

“Basically, it is like ‘The Godfather’; it’s the Empire slowly building up its power base around the galaxy, what happens in Coruscant, which is the major capital, and it’s [about] a group of underground bosses who live there and control drugs, prostitution,” McCallum said.
