I think POTA has an indelible image burned into the consciousness of society, like Boris Karloff and Frankenstein. Those images are so closely associated with that story, nothing that has been done outside of that popular image has ever been as successful. So, for better or worse, society associates certain characters with the popularity of Hollywood images. With POTA, no one thinks about that original book. They think about the film with Charlton Heston. Sure you don't have to use the exact process of John Chambers makeups anymore. But the look his makeups gave should remain. That and you need someone who sounds like Roddy McDowall. I think only then will people accept a new film on this topic.

I think you're vastly overstating the expectations of the greater movie going public. We live on an island, it's where I prefer to be but it's not as densely populated as one might think. IMO, the important marketing factor here is "Nothing to do with the last one".

You're not kidding! I don't think I've ever had so many films I've wanted to see in a single year.

I have to say that, originally I wasn't to thrilled at the prospect of CGI Apes. But after seeing that clip...and seeing the intelligence going on behind Caesar's Eyes...may have just changed my Mind.

You guys make an awful lot of deductions over four seconds of footage. For all we know, they pan down and he's wearing a skirt and breaks into show tunes. I want to see him dressed in his Sunday best fatigues with cool 'glyphs.

Im on a wait and see attitude Im not to big on the CGI apes even if its WETA doing it .I hope they just pay respect to the Original Conquest of the Planet of the Apes and Roddy's memory which was one of the best entries if not the best of the series
