I just wish Lucas would have rewatched the original trilogy before he went to work on the prequel trilogy. There are some really good moments in the three, some stupid ones too, but the biggest problem for me is the inconsistinces -or- simple lack of trying. Example: Padme dies because she looses the will to live. Just that simple. And stupid. Plus how could Leia have any memory of her at all? mommy dearest never even held her before croaking.

I don't think Lucas likes the original movies. He keeps changing them and he never talks fondly about them.

Talk about biting the hand that feeds you. But considering GL's ego he may think it's those fat "Howard the Duck" checks that has kept him out of the poor house.

That is the only of the Prequels I'll try not to defend.

I always thought the beheading of old man Boba was way over the top violent for a kids movie ... and the new movies were clearly made kids.

I don't know Mike. I would not say they were made for kids....they were rated at least PG and the demand was from people who grew up on the orignals and were now adults....no differnt really from Luke taking of the Wampas arm or Leia strangling Jabba or Ewoks and Storm troopers being killed by the score
                      .
and for the record, I know I am in the minority on this, but I think Phantom Menace is actually the best of the prequel movies.....yes Jar Jar was annoying and so was little boy darth but overall the movie was great fun.....IMHO
AOTC was lame, with a few exceptions of scenes ie Obi Wan fighting Jango on the landing platform
ROTS had it's moments but the whole Anikin turning thing was way too rushed....I mean you go from being the hero of the republic to murdering little kids looking to you for protection???? it just was out of what they had established for the character....would have been better had they had him turning already in episode 2 and then make the turn in 3

I'll never understand why Lucas stepped down to write and direct these prequels. The movies, at least cinematically, worked better once he was the idea man and let others write the screenplays and direct the movies.

Ok, the Prequels suck. What a tired conversation.

Do yourselves a favor and watch the above. If you love the prequels this will change your mind.

How come in A New Hope C3po specifically interupts Ben and luke at Bens house:
" Exuse me sir if you wont be needing me Ill be shutting down."

What was it he wanted to make sure he didnt hear?
Was it a plot thread Lucas abandoned?

I read the MASSIVE Making of SW. Lucads was a freaky artsy film school kid. He was still editing when the film was selling out down the street.
Being kept on a leash by the studio is what kept it from sucking cause he had to make do.

Look at Batman Returns comparred to Batman89. Tim Burton is let loose and he makes a freaky scary goth flick.
I am glad Lucas wrote and "directed' the prequels because otherwise we would be sitting here saying" If only Lucas had done them!!"
There are parts I like and dislike about all the films. Just more seem to pop up as we get further from the Theatrical 977.
Jedi bothered me because he was redoing his Cantina scene and the creatures were all too fomulaic. In the Cantina it was a hodge podge of SFX guys and what they could put together quick.
almost All the Jedi aliens were based on animals , weak.

Emperor looked weak but the acting was scary as hell.

James Earl Jones should have been under the mask.
