I agree. His death in Jedi was bad enough, but the prequels really marred what was once an incredibly cool, mysterious character. (Does anyone wanna see a new "Adventures of the Young Man With No Name" trilogy? See what little 9-year-old Clint Eastwood was up to before he donned his poncho, cigar and steely stare? Yeah, didn't think so.) I HATE that Lucas re-dubbed the original voice in Empire with Morrison's. Just leave it alone, George. Please! If you feel the need to tinker, go make Howard the Duck worse.

I read that back in the '80s Lucas was actually a bit surprised by the strong fan reaction to Fett. I think he thought, "Hey, I should use this". According to his ex-wife, one of the early prequel ideas he considered was to have Fett and Vader be brothers, but he eventually gave it up because he thought it was "too corny". So it could have been worse... a little bit.
