All I remember as a child is waiting and waiting to rent Back to the Future (since my parents wouldn't let me go to the movies alone at the time-being under the age of 12 and all). I remember going to the video store and putting my name on the list for when it was released on video 2 yrs later... finally getting it into my hands and watching it... and it ending on "To Be Continued!"

I think part of the problem with "II" is that it seems like 2 separate movies.....Part 1 is the whole future thing and then the 2nd half is a re-tread of the first movie....with a little side trip to the dystopian future thrown in there as well.
I understand why it was done but when you try to explain to a new viewer what exactly is going on with "II" it gets very confusing and that's where it falls apart.
I view "III" is getting the saga back on track (pun intended) and it's a little more accessible to the casual viewer.
I think I'm finally to the point where my kids understand the various timelines in the saga but my wife is still confusedThink OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!Comment

Love the series.
BTTF2 is genius...and a movie history landmark event....the fact
that Marty/Doc revisit their first adventure is incredible...and it's DONE incredibly.
And WHY did it occur? Because people wanted to use time travel to bet on
sporting events...now that's PERFECT."No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I like them all and have been watching them over the last week or so too. my preference would be I, III, II . . . but they were all very "fun" movies, all I ask . . is to be entertained and they all provided suchMy Custom Figures

Was just watching an I Dream of Jeannie a couple of nights ago and the same premise popped up but instead of a sports book it was a sports page of a newspaper.Comment

I actually enjoyed 2 because it just took all the crazy time travel ideas of the first one to new crazy levels. Seeing the characters of 2 running around in the first movie was a fun idea, and a funny way of illustrating some wacky ideas. I liked that it was complex and I remember talking to a friend about it for a while after the movie.
Part 3 - I sort of liked the idea of them needing fuel to run the car - and the way Doc got the message to Marty. Just neat ideas about how a time traveler could get stranded in my opinion. But the humor all fell flat for me. It all just reminded me of "The Apple Dumpling Gang" or something.
Both movies kinda stink because they lack Crispen Glover. I know he clams he dropped out because he didn't want to play that character again - but my guess is that it came down to money.Comment

IMHO it's hard to beat using sports events to your advantage
in a "fore-knowledge" scenario.....that classicness why I love it...
but the idea means phooey if it isn't executed in a project
you like as a whole...
....or, as it seems in your case...
it bugs you merely for the re-use...heck GALAXY QUEST was the same
premise as THREE AMIGOS and I can handle (and love) both.
Guess it just depends on the person.
The REAL thrill for me was the integration into the first movie."No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris MannixComment

I thought part II was brilliant how Marty from part II had to keep from running into himself from part I. The only part I didn't care for was the punk gang run by Griff (Biff's grandson). That was a little corny.
