I like the Viper and Starfighter but i think i'd have to go for the E D Starfighter.

The Viper from Classic BSG has always been one of my favorites even more than the SW X Wing which might have been the first space fighter ship I ever saw.

but my choice is the VF1 ()robotech verithech/ Macross Valkyrie) aka Jetfire from the transformers

So if you were in a mega-space battle, what would you want to be flying?
I think I'd have to go with either a vintage BSG Viper, Buck Rogers (80s tv) fighter or maybe an E3 Jedi star fighter.
