Do you prefer Buck Rogers or Flash Gordon?

The thing about the Flash Gordon 1980 movie, Sam Jones has to be the second most worst actor EVER after OJ Simpson.

An untrained monkey could have played his part in Flash.

I like them both, From the Crabbe serials to Jones and Gerard. I thoroughly enjoyed Buster Crabbe as Brig. Gordon.

Hawk was a neat add on. I hated that they didn't have Mel Blanc as Twili when season 2 started and Crichton was annoying as hell. Then again I never believed that Sam J Jones was the BEST actor who tried out for Flash. So good that they decided to keep him even though he couldn't wear the blue contacts that would have helped make him Flash Gordon.
All said and done, I own both of the latter incarnations on DVD and would kill to own 1:6 versions in my collection.

I like both - but in different versions. The original Raymond Flash Gordon comic strip is one of the most beautiful, elegant examples of comic art there is, IMO. But I grew up watching Gil Gerard on TV - my only real exposure to Buck Rogers - so I have a soft spot for that as well.

BTW, what's a Mego resurgence without Alex Raymond's Flash Gordon?

For the classic serials I like Flash better ... But I like Gil Gerard's Buck Rogers slightly better than Sam Jones's Flash.

Ditto..!!! Love Gil's rendition, but didn't get anything out of Sam's Flash. Cute movie, but Jones didn't do anything of me..

As for classic serials, greatly preferred Flash Gordon over Buck Rogers.

But... Filmation Flash Gordon is a top contender in my book, too. (at least the first season)
