      What?

      No Christopher Lambert?

IMO...his Greystoke Tarzan was truest to Edgar Rice Burroughs's original novel.

I grew up with Ron Ely, so he will always be the definitive television Tarzan for me. Just like Adam West and Batman.

Not a great Tarzan movie by any stretch of the imagination, but here's my pick for Jane.

As much as I love Johnny Weismuller from my Child hood...Christopher Lambert look the most like the Character.

I think I've been influenced by my father on this one, but Johnny Weissmuller is my favorite. A lot of fond Sunday morning memories watching his Tarzan movies on T.V. in the NY Metropolitan area.

I never saw this one due to the critical drubbing.

It was supposed to be the sequel to Lambert's Greystroke wasn't it?

I remember standing in line for hours to meet Ron Ely. The line was so long, that we finally gave up. For me, Ron will always be the Tarzan that I most fondly remember, but I grew up watching Tarzan movies every Saturday afternoon, and Johnny was my favorite film Tarzan.

                          Exactly.

That's why I'm shocked he has been only mentioned a couple of times in here...his Tarzan is truest to Burrough's original vision.

and agreed JW is the best Tarzan - though I like did like CL in greystoke and MO in BD's Tarzan.

The Filmation Tarzan is the definitive version of the character from my own childhood. Maybe it was all the rotoscoping that made the endless repetition of the same animation cels seem fresh and compelling. The voice acting was also perfect.
The only live action Tarzan I saw as a kid was Johnny W. and Mike Henry. I think I also caught some Gordon Scott here and there. I liked them all in one way or another.
I know it's not a real guy, but I gotta go with cartoon!

I've heard that, I own the film (but I love Tarzan movies), it's pretty goofy but nothing as bad as the critics let on. Van Diem isn't much of an actor though.
