    Hunter Prey

Just got done watching Sandy Collora's newest movie Hunter Prey and I totally loved it. Hunter stalks prey, hunter becomes prey, simple story, but with some interesting twists.

The story goes as follows: A race called Sidonians conquer planets all over the galaxy, kinda like the Necromongers in The Chronicles of Riddick. The Sidonians have destroyed Earth. All mankind is annihilated, except for one man, who's on a mission of revenge and wants to destroy Sidonia. The Sidonians have sent a squad to capture the human. They crash on a desolate planet and the hunt is on. Battle of the fittest.

Don't expect exotic settings, elaborate explosions or high speed space battles. The entire movie is shot on a desert like planet. The make up gets an A+, the aliens look very convincing and I couldn't help but chuckle on seeing an alien with a goatee (played by Sandy himself). Let's face it, how often do you see an alien with facial hair. The hunter helmets had a sort of Boba Fett meets the Predator feel to them. The prey helmet looks somewhat like an alien skull. The accessories (rifle, sonic gun, communicator,...) and the costumes are simple, yet effective. No over the top or exaggerated gadgets, no costumes with so many tubes going in and out you have to wonder what they're all for, nothing like that, which makes everything much more believable. The fact that the hunter suits are dirty and damaged from battle gives even more credibility to the whole movie. This is after all a race of conquerors, fighters and warmongers.

Sandy worked with Clark Bartram again, who also starred in Sandy's Batman Dead End. His look in Hunter Prey made me think of Charlton Heston in Planet of the Apes, the suit, the beard... In fact, knowing Sandy's love for POTA one could say Hunter Prey is an hommage to Planet of the Apes. The lonely human being hunted down by a race of aliens (apes). And the Sidonians do look somewhat like apes, but not a whole lot tho.

It's quite an entertaining movie with a couple of surprises and unexpected twists. Go see it if you the chance.

A domestic distribution deal is being worked out as we speak. Most of the foreign territories have been sold as well. It should get a theatrical release in the UK and Australia. The rest on DVD. It starts hitting in Asia and eastern Europe the last quarter of this year. First quarter 2011, in the remaining territories from what I'm told by the distributors.

That's a very kind review Thomas... I appreciate you taking the time to watch the film and write something so eloquent and heartfelt, especially with all that's going on in your life. ; )

Stay tuned, people and hang in there... As soon as I know more, I will definitely be posting the info here.

I've never written a movie review, so I'm glad to hear what I wrote didn't insult or embarass you in any way, Sandy.
And yeah, Clark really has come a long way. To be totally honest, I hadn't even recognized him at first

I really enjoyed this film. Sandy knows me well enough now to know that if I didn't like it, I would be saying so. It has a good story with some nice twists and those Sidonians are rugged, tough, SOB's!!!!!
You can certainly see elements of Sandy's passions in the film.

It really is bad ***... I mean with all the crap Hollywood pumps out, this is really refreshing and worth seeing. I loved it.. the twists are cool, and the omage to classic Sci Fi is unmissable, and the overall cinematography is superior to allot of bigger budget modern flicks. It's a must see IHO...

...an EXCELLENT MOVIE INDEED!!! Highly recommended!!! The settings, make-up, costumes,...make this movie seem so real, SO OUT OF THIS WORLD...the story,...its elements, twist and turns,...and when the human is revealed (ala Charlton Heston) showing how he was kept alive in his prison mask (ugh),....is quite... impressive!!! Even a "surprise" alien and his weird and unique language, is more than convincing...awesome!!!! SC's work here takes you far, far away,...to another world, another universe, another time in space.....a work of art!
