      good picks

there may have been some collectors items relesed decades after the fact but FLASH GORDON should have just been a vehicle for merchandise and what did we get? There were some figures around but they weren't based on the film.

i am sure there are a lot more out there that would have been cool

were there figures from Princess Bride?

Were ther ACTION figures from spinal tap?

Sideshow did Connor, Kurgan and Duncan in 12" but i can't understand why they never did a Ramirez.

Also, there were figures from the animated series.

I have to say Back To The Future needs action figures. I'd also like to see Playmates pick up their classic Star Trek lines where they left off by doing the entire classic crew in the same uniforms as sets. The movie-era cast is split between the 1st and second film. There isn't a whole set of them to match up in the same uniforms.

Y'know, I read somewhere, back in the 1980's, that manufacturers would not take a chance on new sci-fi model kits if there were a movie tie-in until Star Wars came along. Even a TV series, with weekly exposure, would be unlikely to get kits made. During the short period where many studios tried to compete with Star Wars, (1977-1982), is when we got such excellent model kits and toys likeBattlestar Galactica and Buck Rogers models.

Star Trek fans were pining for new spaceship kits for years and all they got were a few new kits after ST-TNG came along but merchandising was geared up to cash in on TNG. So many more ships to be made. I hate to think it but studios probably don't want to bother doing toys and model kits unless they're sure a film/tv show is going to be a Star Wars, 800 lb. gorilla, type of franchise.

Yeah, AN was a cool show, but I wonder if toy execs might not have thought it was too "adult" for the kid audience?

How about Escape from NY, Mad Max, or maybe Buckaroo Banzai.

Master of the universe movie figures would have been nice. I also wish they would have released Blade Runner figures.

The first Alien movie.. I know there were prototypes apparently done, but to have Ash, Parker and Dallas.., would have been cool.

Do you mean the original Mad Max, The Road Warrior, or Thunderdome (or all three )? If you mean just the RW, there actually were figures released a few years ago... They weren't "Megoish" if that's what you're looking for, they were more like your average figure of today...

Plus, if you look thru the customs section, a few members made their own Mad Max figures, which were pretty cool... I'd guess pictures of them still exist on here...

In an alternate universe, Marx picked up the '50s War of the Worlds movie. Little plastic soldiers, charred skeletal remains, and a metal Martian war machine that could attack a folded tin lithographed city. I'm sure they're cool.

Also, a company called Resaurus came pretty close to doing Galaxy Quest figures, including some nifty-lookin 12" figures. I have an old ToyFare somewhere with pictures. It'd be cool if EMCE or someone made Megos of them, as if they were based on the characters from the show.

A lot of these choices are rated R movies and who is going to make kid's toys from movies they are not going to be allowed into? However now they could be made for the adult collector.
