I go along with the idea that a TV series, something like the new Battlestar, would be ideal. A re-make of Conquest of the POTA is not the first thing that comes to mind when I think of re-visiting the franchise.
I like the idea of Caesar being some kind of mutant, but what about the rest of the apes? One the things that gets on my nerves in the original series is that there's no explanation why the ape population suddenly makes these evolutionary leaps. In the first two one might assume it was radioactivity or some such because it is not explained in detail. However, the events of the fourth film totally undermines this idea and stretches the suspension of disbelief almost beyond what I can bear.
Meanwhile, I'll still watch the darn thing

I kinda hope this film gets made. The original sequel films were a little muddled in their logic, so somebody taking the reins and redoing what was in those films, while repairing some of the more implausible elements (like MysteryWho mentions above) would be the way to do it. Start with Caesar, and his rebellion, then move forward. I'm hoping the other apes are regular ones, whom Caesar has some kind of link to ala Aquamana and his fishy friends. After the rebellion Caesar would force the human scientists to start tinkering with the other apes DNA, leading to the ape world we all know and love from the first film.

Pass the grape juice plus. Seriously, to enjoy this upcoming movie I would probably need to be drunk.

CGI apes? Guys, can you pass the booze my way next?
Well, whatever happens, it will never get any weirder than "Revenge From Planet Ape", the re-edited version of Tombs of the Blind Dead with the opening narration linking the two very disparate film series.

And let's not forget Time of the Apes.

                  No, no, no, no, no!!
CGI Apes would SUCK. I am a HUGE Ape-fan and I would not want to see them do a POTA movie without real actors in prosthetics. Even the Burton movie wasn't that bad. I didn't care for the Chimp makeup too much, especially the female chimps but the rest of the Apes looked marvelously real.

Everyone would be human if they did that. Saves lots of money on special effects that way.

Well if they are going to do CGI apes then AT LEAST it will be high end CGI (WETA Digital). I for one thought Gollum looked deccent. If they use the same high end CGI as they used in the lord of the rings it may work. That is not to say I am thrilled about the news.

I don't think any remake has a serious chance of working because, let's be honest, the look of POTA is permanently connected with the classic makeups done by John Chambers. Without having that same feel, I don't think the movies would be viewed as "proper" installments. Personally, I think they should go back to the classic makeups and just do some touch up work with CGI to enhance the overall look. If they did that and revived the classic characters like Cornelius portrayed by a Rodney McDowall contemporary, I think you would have a massive hit. Just my opinion.

It'll suck with the stupid story and cgi. How many "don't mess with mother nature" movies do we need? It's been done before...
Let's just pretend "the island of dr moreau" was the movie they want to make. The San Francisco of Dr. Moreau! It doesn't fall in with the old movies so it shouldn't be made.

Y'know, all this talk about how bad this movie will be has got me kind of excited.
I think I might actually be looking forward to it now. Maybe if you go into it expecting
a piece of junk, you might get some entertainment out of it, like any good/bad movie.
Maybe we should just take whatever comes and revel in it.

Apes... Apes... APES. It's all about apes and the 70's, man. Any combination thereof, without the other, is not acceptable. LOL

                                That's it.
