New Star Wars Series Fom Lucas

Coming to TV From George Lucas: Think 'Star Wars,' Think Animation, and, This Time, Think Comedy

Lucasfilm Animation is developing a new "Star Wars" series that takes an irreverent and comedic slant on the franchise, the Hollywood Reporter says.

The series will receive creative input from Seth Green and Matthew Senreich, who created the "Robot Chicken" parodies of the science-fiction films. "What do these characters do when they're not overthrowing empires?" Green says.

While no network has been announced, the series is likely to secure a deal with either Cartoon Network or its Adult Swim programming block. Jennifer Hill of "The Backyardigans" will produce and Todd Grimes of "Back at the Barnyard" will direct.

...and yet today is April 6th, not 1st.

It could work, Seth Green knows what he's doing.

Isn't there also a live-action SW show in the works? I hope this isn't it. I think a show would be a great way to get the taste of the prequels out my brain.

It's a good thing Lucas is finally "putting SW behind him and doing some non-fantasy serious movies", as he's been saying for the last 25 years or so.....(post ROTJ)

All we need now is a soap opera series, where the main character finds out he's been shagging his sister, that his most hated enemy is his father,...
              Ahum....

Listen to me, George: all I want to see is parts 7-9, preferably written and directed by somebody else. We all love ya, Star Wars is the best movie ever, but you obviously don't have the right instincts anymore where SW is concerned (ep 1-3), so relax, let somebody else do the heavy lifting, and go play some golf.
May the Nine Iron be with you!

                    Beat me too it.

I can vividly recall seeing George interviewed in the lead up to Phantom Menace saying Jar Jar would be the funniest character yet seen in the Star Wars universe. I suppose he was kinda right.

He was pawning a 100 epsidoe series which has potential to go to 400 1hr episodes. Now given most tv series shoot 22 episode seasons your talking 5 years just to play out the storyline and then possibly another 20 years...???

Oh yeah and it was also stated these would all be minor characters with NO jedis in it or vader!!!
                            Seriously lucas no jedi,no vader...

I'm sorry but no jedi and no vader = Not star wars.
The dude has seriously gone off his nut.

That actually sounds quite cool, but can u imagine at the age of 60+, still riveted to the tv, waiting for the next episode
