Planet of the Apes TV show question ...

He's out of bullets and going to throw it at some humans.

He's going to swing it down and hit his horses flank to make him run faster maybe.

Was watching Planet of the Apes the TV show and everytime I watch the beginning credits I always wonder (besides to look cool) why does the gorilla soldier hold the gun above his head ? ... and don't tell me it's to signal his buddies, because they're there right beside him.

A possible reason ---him telling everyone -- 'hey guys, I found my gun"

Any other reasons he might be doing this ?
