Not sure if it would be any good.

Take away the quirkey British characters all that's left is a boring X-Files clone.

To me Torchwood is like Dr Who ... if they're not made for a British audience they will stink.

I had the same reaction to this- It will feel like an X-Files rip-off.

When I saw the headline "Fox Adapting Hit British Drama for U.S. Audience," I had a bit of a panic that Fox was going to re-invent Dr. Who. I doubt highly they could recreate the charm.

BTW, Here is the report in the 'The Hollywood Reporter,'

Fox readying U.S. version of 'Torchwood'
      WANTED - Solid-Boxed WGSH's, C.8 or better.

I think one of the problems is there's a big miscommunication of the intelligence of the average American viewer.

They think everything made for an American audience must be dumbed down.

Also, a big part of Torchwood has always been about sex including bisexuality and homosexuality ... Hell, even Tosh did it with a chick.
Take the sex out of Torchwood and it's not Torchwood anymore.

I can't imagine that going over very well here ... Not because of the viewing audience but because of the network and sponsors.

I'm wondering, if it's going to made by FOX and BBC Worldwide, will it air on FOX or BBC America ?

If it will be on BBC America, it could crossover intact with sucess ...

        Fox is another story, imo

Too many bible thumping religious American organizations will give FOX a hard time if it's on Network TV.

I had a nightmare back in the 1990s that Dr Who was made in america. And he wore a Wyatt Erpp Halloween costume. Whew.

The problem with this, at least for me, is that Torchwood is VERY much a Doctor Who spin-off. Jack is a Doctor Who character. There have been several crossovers with Doctor Who...

The whole world is a WHO world. Once you remove that aspect, yeah, it can still work but it's not really the same thing anymore.

Plus is Captain Jack is in this, how is he immortal? Cause you have to follow Who to understand that.

Bad idea, can't begin to explain how badly this will suck

Why don't they just put Torchwood on Fox rather than spend millions just to make an American version? (No one really has to answer this, just don't get it)
                It's all good!

I hope this doesn't come about. Remember what happened to the american version of Life on Mars? The UK version was great but the american version sucked.

I bet you when they put it on the air,it'll be on Sundays after football. And we all know what a wonderful time slot that is. Just ask King of the Hill or Futurama.

everybody dumps on the TV movie. Was it perfect no but it was still decent - I think Paul Mcgann was a brilliant Doctor too bad we never got beyond the regeneration story (which have all been lame since Robot). Imagine if all we had to judge Davison on was Castrovalva, Colin Baker - Twin Dilemma, and Sylvester Mccoy - Time and the Rani would their Doctors be looked at as highly - I doubt it.

Agreed and americans are not nearly as comfortable with aternative lifestyles as they would like to pretend to be. my Daughter is a big fan of both one tree hill and Degrassi (basically the same HS based tween soap opera one in US and one is canadian) and the canadian show is WAY more expressive/accepting of gay and lesbian relationships. In the states you don't see passion between same sex characters it's usually for a joke. but in torchwood that passion was pivotal

it wasn't as good but I won't say it sucked. I think it was more of an example of a show concept that only works once (like Hitchhikers guide X files). Ashes to ashes was the UK sequel and I didn't like that either

Because BBC still airs the reruns on BBC america

I found torchwood strangely entertaining... the last 5 part mini was fairly well done, IMO
