Loved the movie.. Just got it today as a gift from my wife.., although I've had it on my iPod for a few months now.

I've described it to non-fans as 'not being as geeky as the previous Trek films'; nearly all of 'em have enjoyed it immensely.

Movie Theaters..?? I used to love them, but avoid them like the plague now unless my nephew really WANTS me to see a new film with him. I can't stand the noise, the candy wrappers, the texting, etc..

I enjoy the flat screen at home, on the futon with the wife, popcorn, pizza, wine/beer, and two dogs laying on me much, MUCH better.

I'll admit to having been a skeptic on this. I was always a huge ST supporter, though mostly from the movies forward as I was too young to remember the original series much. I thought they went as far as they could in film with the franchise and that this was going to be nothing mroe than Star Trek 90210. I even skipped seeing this on the big screen. I'm an idiot.

This is so well done with little nuances and details and has what the original cast had over their TNG counterparts...heart. This film was so respectful of the original series while creating it's own reality and spin. It was strange and fun seeing Chris Pine channel Shatner every now and then. I think most of it was subconscious. Spocks' part was simply stellar.

The entire movie was a fun ride and so slick. I'd go so far as to say it's the best movie I've seen in several years. I know ST purists turn their noses up on this, but that's a mistake. Fun has returned to the Star Trek franchise. It's worth seeing in any format.

Wait a minute,I consider myself a TOS purist and I'll tell you right now that this movie was freaking awesome.
I full on have no problem of this film due to the inclusion of Nimoy and the fantastic story in total. It is a true master piece and I look forward to seeing many, many sequels!!!

P.S. I'm sorry you missed it on the big screen cause, WOW it was awesome!!!

I liked the movie and look forward to a few sequels. It is certainly better than that forgetable Scott Bakula Star Trek tv-show.
