I am on the fence on this one. I LOVED the original as a kid. Even sent away for a free Calibos. He was/is my fave character from the movie. I HOPE they do him justice in the remake. My cousin and I were huge Harryhousen fans. We saw all the Sinbad movies and ate them up so Clash was pretty much a shoe-in. I am hoping for good things here. I actually liked the music though it really doesn't seem to fit.

The reason these movies were so magical was because of the unique special effects created by Harryhousen... There just wasn't anything out there like it except in Harryhousen movies ...

Today CGI has made everything boring with no heart ...

BTW, horrible music on the movie trailor ...
Who made that trailor, the WWE ?
I agree! saw the Trailer Im out! Ray Harryhousen was the Heart and Soul of the Original thats why it still works

Just going by the trailer, it does appear the story itself will be pretty faithful to the first one. Obviously the look has been Gladiatored up for modern audiences. It might be ok....?

I was just playing the ps2 game "god of war 2" yesterday and I totally killed Perseus. What a wuss he even resembled Perseus from the first film.
This film could be okay actually.

From the looks of the second trailer we got in at work today, it does look pretty good.
I agree with the consensus on the Harryhausen legacy.
Truly brilliant in his own right and certainly paved way for imaginary stories to come to life on film.
Like my music, I prefer analog over digital..most of the time.

              Medusa looks pretty interesting.

Bet you it'll be no where as good as Robot Chicken's remake.

Its funny, when my grandpa took me to see the original he thought it went overboard with stop-motion photography effects.

Hey, I like it too, just not too much. And it's not really the CGI I don't like it's the fact that nowadays every movie has to have the most amazing stunts, wildest and craziest battles, mind blowing explosions, ... And while all of that is just fine, it doesn't work in certain movies. In modern movies - even in the so-called historic ones - everyone seems to know martial arts and swordfighting is more of an art than a simple battle

The thing is, computer generated technology makes EVERY movie look "spectacular".

There's really nothing they can do anymore that will impress an audience because of special effects... Blow up the world ... been there done that etc.

This means movies today will be judged more on story, pacing, directing and acting.

It's why so many of these CGI movies are crap flops nowadays...

In the old days unique effects were an integral part of the movie in general -- and could literally sell the picture on their merit alone.

Today movie makers don't have that luxury ...

Movie makers need to try making a good movie, not a good special effects movie.

Good way of putting it. I was thinking about that. The spectacle (explosions, effects, property damage) IS a part of movies.... but it's only ONE part. Since the late 80's it's the part the moviemakers have focussed on. Unfortunately for me, it's not the part that I care about. No matter how big the explosion I feel like I've seen it before. Not as big or flashy; but still quite familiar.
