It's usually just a Halloween episode, like Cat's Paw on Star Trek.
Although, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea had TWO werewolf
    episodes!

I remember the Starsky & Hutch episode. The Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea I dont remember. My question is, how come in the old shows the werewolf always stangled its victims?

To get the show past the strict televison censors.

As an example of the very strict censors of the 60's, on the Star Trek episode Miri the censor board told the producers they are not allowed to show a dead child with their eyes open.
This refered to the crazy bicycle kid at the beginning.
