    The Final Countdown - talk

The Final Countdown is one of my fav time travel movies.

    It's loaded with everything I like .....

    An Aircraft Carrier
    WW2
    Time Travel
    Kirk Douglas

... and, unlike most time travel movies who are very anal about "stepping on a butterfly" -- Kirk couldn't care less about changing the time-line

I only wish the final battle took place --- at least part of it.

I almost feel a little cheated that it didn't happen --- but I guess that was part of the story considering the Nimitz crew felt as I did.

BTW, even though they have NOTHING to do with eachother, does anyone else always think of The Final Countdown SONG when they watch this movie

I also love this film. For some reason it is allways in the bargain bin here in the UK.

The film i allways associate with this allthough it is not connected is The Philadelphia Experiment.

And because of that song, I immediately think of Gob Bluth.

Every time I see the DVD, VHS or whatever, I think of the song. Annoying since I don't really know the song or the movie.

Great film that is underapreciated by many!

A friend of mine still swears he saw a knock off version of this film, where actual combat did happen, and staved off the PH attack, keeping America out of the war yadda yadda. I think hes mixing it up with the Philadelphia Experiment, or its sequel which showed a world run by Nazis.

Anyone see "Fatherland" with Ruger Hauer? It's a goos story about what might have happened if the Axis won World War Two. A definite rental if you never saw it.

a very good atlernate reality movie and it isn't that the axis won but they did conquer europe incl russia and sued for peace successfully. So instead of the USSR vs the West the cold war was between germany and the USA set in the early 60's. HBO films produced it

Come on JDS, you don't think isolating us and conquering Russia and Europe isn't winning?
