The Final Countdown is one of my fav time travel movies.

It's loaded with everything I like .....

... and, unlike most time travel movies who are very anal about "stepping on a butterfly" -- Kirk couldn't care less about changing the time-line

I only wish the final battle took place --- at least part of it.

I almost feel a little cheated that it didn't happen --- but I guess that was part of the story considering the Nimitz crew felt as I did.

BTW, even though they have NOTHING to do with eachother, does anyone else always think of The Final Countdown SONG when they watch this movie

I think this is one of those movies I've always wanted to see but have never actually had the chance.
This doesn't have Cheryl Ladd & Kris Kristofferson in it, does it? That's probably a 3rd time travel movie I'm confusing this and Philadelphia Experiment with?

Nah I am an old cold warrior anyway. I could have hated ratzi's even easier than I hated commies. In the end the US was still a primary force in the post war world so it really wasn much different than the world of the 60's anyway

I liked the Final Countdown until the ending...I feel like the filmmakers chickened out of a great ending...it could've been fantastic...but instead...it ends with a whimper.

99% of the film...I give it an A...but in that 1% ending...I give it a big fat F.

you know I work with a guy right now who was stationed on the carrier when they made the film. He was able to meet Kirk Douglas and a few others

I like this film a lot and was more pleased to find out the above info one day at work.

If they did this properly and not like a fast food teenage sh*t film, they can truly do wonders with a remake using today's special effects
