I liked both the way they are: very cool and unemotional, very stylized, very "retro".
Any remake would "undo" the whole feel of the shows completely, IMO.
It was like 2001: the TV series...

Hollywood is already screwing up big time with Speilberg attempt at a TINTIN movie!!!
It'll be like that Sgt pepper movie with Frampton&Bee Gees(George Burns) biggest flop of
all time bar none!...
Y'know.... you're right; but I think that's part of what makes the shows unique. Especially UFO. Straker seems like the kinda guy that'd do whatever it takes to beat the aliens, and NOT moralize about it afterwards.
Good or bad, it's part of the show and a new version would doubtless lose that.
Loved the purple hair on UFO but Space 1999 was the best. If only Barbara Bain could project some warmth somewhere. Still a cool concept, even if the style is a bit dated. I just noticed last night that The Prisoner episodes are available on my on-demand freebie section. Guess what I am going to be watching!

I finally got to see a bit of UFO in recent years, still surprised with how much cross-over there was between UFO and 1999 (Year 1), both infront and behind the camera. If you think you've caught all the similiarities.., you most likely haven't. The Catacombs site's the best 1999 site available..:
Year 1 Space:1999 will always, ALWAYS be my show. It was an honor to talk to Barry Morse at length at one of his last appearances (Tampa, FL), even thank Nick Tate for inspiring me to enter military service.. Like most folks with 'their show', it's not so much the show itself, but where/when you were in life, when it entered your life.
The 2 1/2 ft Mattel Eagle ship STILL rocks.., especially with the custom decals from a Canadian Modeler's site (jbot.ca) for both the ship and the figures.
