My opinion of Cameron is simple,He did Titanic and after it made so much money and acclaim he knew he would never,ever do anything that huge again and he just gave up cause he didn't want to fail and be known as a has been!!!
Plain and simple.
Or after his wife left he couldn't go back to terminator cause it reminded him too much of her.Either way.
I really could care less if he is involved,I liked terminator for Arnold and the story not with what he did with it.
Same reason I like the new trek.It does not have any involvement with Roddenberry and the movie if still fantastic.

Is the movie okay to take my son to?
He is eight and really likes the terminator movies?
Or is it to much of a gore/sex fest?
Maybe I should just go first?

Completely appropriate for kids. No nudity outside of a glimpse of the Arnold/Terminator in the buff, but easily passable by television standards. No sex and honestly one of the cleaner entries as far as dialog goes (very little cussing). It's a fun installment but by no means a sci-fi giant in film making. In my opinion it does what it's suppose to do - advances the original tale while offering visual samplings of the Kyle Reece story offered in the first installment...PLUS you get introduced to the first Arnold Terminator. It was entertaining, but don't go looking for the hidden novel. The original trilogy addressed a possible future while this trilogy is geared towards protecting the past. The effects are good, the casting is good, and the score is done well by Danny Elfman. I can't imagine what fans of the series would want outside of seeing the fates played out.

Wow. Box office receipts for T-4 are terrible. Thursday receipts were $13 million (and that's counting Wed's midnight showings). I gave that a pass since school was still in session for the kids and it was a work night for everyone else. But Friday it did nearly the same pulling in a lowly $14 million and finished second to Musuem II. If this film doesn't pick up steam quickly over the holiday weekend, it will be an official bomb for Christian Bale. This is a $200 million production and that's BEFORE marketing costs are factored in...ouch.

.Lots of plot holes. Not sure why the new terminator guy is there. They never adequately answer that either. Felt like I was watching an episode of Lost. SPFX and action were GREAT. Not hard to do these days, though, so I wish I'd waited until it was on DVD, which is my advice to those of you who haven't seen it.

For me, this was only a mildly entertaining time at the movies.

McG's directorial style was stamped all over this film. There wasn't a trace of James Cameron's original tone here.

This was a music-video styled borderline mess.

And of course, Christian Bale was back again with that overly raspy voice and silly lisp of his (and you all KNOW how much I loved that crap during the Dark Knight).

For me, there have always been two major factors that drove the Terminator franchise:

1) Firstly, there was the basic factor of the hunt / chase by a TIME-TRAVELING terminator sent by Skynet from the post-apocalyptic future to kill a key member of the human resistance in our "present".

In this film, this time-travel component of the franchise is virtually non-existant.

How cool wouldn't it have been if this film ended with the defeat of Skynet, and Kyle Reese being sent through the time-displacement device to the year 1984 with the mission to protect Sarah Connor (a neat wrap-around to the first film).

Instead, all we got was Bale's lispy voice-over about how "the war against the machines will continue", blah, blah, blah... Snore.


2) The second factor of the franchise has always been the spectre of an impending "judgement day" nuclear holocaust that our main characters work to PREVENT FROM HAPPENING. This aspect of the story (naturally) is now gone also.

To me these two things gave this film series all of its pathos and drama. Indeed, they were the very definition of a Terminator film.

Absent, from this latest film, it just doesn't feel like a Terminator film.

In previous films, the brief dream-like glimpses of a post-apocalyptic ruined Los Angeles , dominated by Skynet's flying laser-firing HKs or rolling tanks is absolutely terrifying.

Now, an entire MOVIE set in that time period... DULL.

With the future not being "set" (as Kyle Reese pointed out in T1), the post-apocalyptic future need NOT necessarily happen (from a "present-time" point of view). There was always the suspenseful possibility that it could all be averted. And our main characters always tried to ensure that judgement day never came by disrupting the series of events leading to its happening... even while being hunted by a marauding Terminator.

In the end, despite some fun action sequences, I gotta give TERMINATOR: Salvation a thumbs down.

Hmmmm. I think he was just p*ssed at all of the internet chatter that had revealed his plot so he decided to make something up to get back at them. I can't believe anyone would have signed on for that turkey of an ending. Of course, the ending we got was a little weak anyway. It may be all moot anyway since the series is likely dead at this stage. I still maintain it was better than the last one.

I just saw this Movie with the BOY a few hrs ago...
If you are a Fan of Terminator,.. & the TV Show,.. or just something...
& You Don't like this Flick,.. You are seriously Smoking some Bad Swauge.

BTW... the Scene with Arnie was OFF THE HOOK !

1 and 2 ended with Jusdgement day averted (or so they thought) and 2 should have worked by destroying all the aritifacts and research but eventually they had to make 3 and get some more $ so the inevitability of judgement day plot device was used - skynet used the internet to birth itself instead. So 3 ends with the terminator war begun. In some timeline the war has to happen in order for the paradox of the terminator's and Kyle's step back through time to happen initially.

I have wanted to see the terminator war for a long time and i am pleased overall with it. Are there some things I thought were weak sure but it's still better than most of the recent history sequels to classic sci fi franchises (such as alien versus predator, Alien resurection and T3)
