The Clone Wars series and toys are really the only modern toys I'm into at the moment. They are great, stylized and there's not enough of them to make you break the bank collecting them.

ALL of the Star Wars films have things that make you go hmmm, but the newer ones were not a part of my childhood, so they didn't get off as easy. I teach high school art and the newer films are LOVED by my students while the old ones are just glazed over. Darth Maul and Mace Windu are by far the most popular.

Like I said, all of the films have entertained me, but a few of them, like Phantom Menace, are hard to rewatch (although from the point the music kicks in at the end of Phantom Menace where you see Darth Maul flash the double lightsaber the whole movie rocks).

I'm always amused how the "old guard" who despises the
new STAR WARS trilogy are faced with the undeniable fact that
the younger generation fell in love with the new STAR WARS
and is less jazzed about the old one the old guard grew up with.

It's one thing to PREFER the old trilogy but to have so
much HATE towards the new trilogy seems unwarranted/ugly to me----
the fact that it has seduced the younger generation confirms this
----My belief is that one may not like the new trilogy, but it's successes
dictate respect...or at the very least, acknowledgement.

To NOT acknowledge this makes for a real black & white scenario
that comes off as eyebrow-raisingly short-sighted ---in my opinion.

I don't particularly love PHANTOM or CLONES but they are fun---
and they are STAR WARS----that's enough for me to not want to
come off like I want to slit throats due to a bunch of nitpicky type stuff

Hmmmm....

Gotta go with the first as my fave. Even now, it's so different from any other sci-fi film. They wanted space to look "lived in," and it did. Sure the story is as old as time; but it's the presentation that really made the film.

Then Empire. ATATs rule!

Then Jedi; mostly 'cos it wraps up the original story.

The Attack of the Clones. I really liked the clones; although it seemed like SEVERE fan service that they're all Boba Fett.... er.... Boba Fett is Jango Fett.... um.... The whiney Anakin bits were grating, but the army of clones made up for it.

Then Revenge of the Sith; although it' WAY back from clones. That's 'cos it played out exactly how Lucas said it would, many many moons ago. It looked nice, but it seemed like a recap. Except for the Grievous bits at the beginning, which felt like I had missed the first half of the film.

Then the Holiday Special. It's bad; but it's SOOOOOO bad. Like nothing could ever be THAT bad. Even the next entry isn't that all-encompasingly bad.

The next entry being Phantom Menace. It was bad, blah and had WAY too much JarJar. (Made me miss the Ewoks, he did.)

Speakin' on which; I wasn't a fan of the two Ewok tv movies. They were really watered down and unsurprising.

BTW... I caught an Episode of GooseBumps from the 90's ... & there was a very young,.. maybe 12 yrs old, Haden in this episode. I thought it was interesting....

One thing is hate the evilness of a villain...and another is to hate bad acting, period.

Anthony Hopkins as Dr Hannibal Lecter...evil, evil, pure evil...but GREAT acting.

Christian Hayden as Anakin...light evil, light evil, pure light evil...HORRID acting.

I love the original trilogy but the prequels only get my "like" if that makes sense. I had pictured the history of Vader so differently based on dialogue from the originals that the prequels really let me down overall. Plus it seems that Obi-Wan was a complete liar to Luke. Point of view my entire ***.

I really don't want to get into this discussion because it would literally take me about an hour and a half of non-stop typing to express my thoughts on the subject.

I will always love Star Wars. I will always give Lucas the benefit of the doubt and check out his new Star Wars projects. But Star Wars will never be #1 with me again. Sure the original films changed my life, but it's not enough anymore.

I have to agree with Jason regarding Hayden's portrayal of Anakin. Surely the majority of blame should rest on Lucas' shoulders. The "hate" for the character comes from the bad lines. You just don't buy it. He whines like my kids in a toy isle when they were 8 years old. The emotion or inflection in the line just comes off juvenile (and that came by Lucas' direction). Plus I think the overall origin just diluted the image of Vader. I can't reconcile Anakin in Clones with Vader in Empire. The two are just polar opposites in every way.
