    A bit off topic, but when did it become popular to release (or at least advertise) toys from an upcoming movie that hasn't even been released yet ?

    Did this start in the 80's ?

      I am surprised that they are revealing so much in the toys before the movie comes out. It would seem that they would have revealed more screen shots of the ships first before showing what it looked like as a toy. I do like the article link where they mention trying to keep the price down on the toys and that they are meant to be played with.

      Oh, and for the off topic T1K, I remember back in June 1978 seeing toys on the shelf for the original Battlestar Galactica at my local Ward's. That was then 3 months before the series premiered.
      It's all good!
