The heads (especial Kirk and Sulu) are way too tiny.
This style of tiny-head figure reminds me of early 90s superhero style (which I always hated) -
Let's face it.
The toys for this movie don't look promising.
Just think of the money we're going to save NOT buying them.....

The 6 inch Kirk is horrifically bad. These are ok. Not terrible but not really that great either or anywhere close to what Hasbro does in the scale. Playmates honestly should have and could have done a lot better. They still could end up being fun toys depending on how the playsets turn out.You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. The 12" stuff doesnt look horrible, and the playsets are mighty interesting.

The 3 3/4 inch stuff isnt so bad, and the articulation looks pretty good.
Trekweb has some pics of the new toys up in the flickr section, including headshots of the other 6" figures. Seems no matter what the scale, the Kirk sculpt has the goofy cowlick hair!?

The head sculpts are terrible on the 12 inch figures and not surprisingly, all the likenesses on the 6 inch scale figures are very poor. Old Spock looks like prune face or he is melting. I mean, come on, Nimoy doesn't look that bad in the movie.
What did surprise me is how lame the 3 3/4 inch Bridge playset is. It's basically just a placemat and some chairs.
