Wow! He actually replied to an email! That's awsome. Sorry Mike. I believe you when you say you heard him say it on Letterman. It's just that the actor you picked does have some resemblence to Shearer; he just seems too tall. There's just enought there to make it seem correct with a grain of salt.

    Hector,
Is that the SNL Skit, that Shatner with ask one of the trekies if he ever kissed a girl before. I like the skit were they dress Shatner up like Ollie North in Marine Greens and the SNL players are dress in Marine Dress Blues and sing a parady of SSgt Barry Sadler "Ballad of the Green Berets", called the "Ballad of the Mute Marine".

Yep...Thats why I threw in the barroom reference.....Probably didnt help, and he thinks I was wearing rubber spock ears and a crappy Trek outfit made by my Mother while I was typing the e-mail.....

Now let's start a thread on whether that was really Harry Shearer or a publicist that responded. j/k

It probably was him, I know so many people that have their emails tied into a blackberry or something and I bet he doesn't get that much fan mail on New Years eve.

    Hello,
I am hoping you can resolve a little "barroom" bet. A friend of mine says you were in the classic Star Trek episode "Day of the Dove" playing a security guard. Some of the other guys say "no way!"

Could you please shed some light on what is crazily becoming a big deal?

    Thanks....and Happy New Year!!

    Clay

    Never did a "Trek".

    Harry Shearer

Cool that I even got a reply ---(and sad for him...what tv star sits at home on New Years Eve answering e-mails??)----even if it doesnt agree with what I thought. Sorry Mike, thought you were onto something here....He must have been pullin' Lettermans leg.
    Wow,
    He really answered back ?
That's good enough for me ......

But he still did say he. did on that Letterman.
I heard him with my own 2 ears

That's exactly what I would have done (gone to his official site..). Now, certainly HATE to cause more fire, but some guys don't answer their own site mail, but it's weird that he would have simply picked a Trek plot out of the blue to mention on Letterman all those years ago: He could have simply said.. 'Yeah, I did a Trek where I was one of the Transporter Operators' or something.

Oh, well it's still a cool thread. Thanks, Type1kirk! Again, excellent find!
