It Bums Me out that They never went with my idea. I would like to see a completely "Animated" Star Trek Movie on the big Screen! You could still get most of the Cast, and You could have some one imitate Bones & Scotty...what'd Ya think?

Only if Dan Akeroid does both Scotty and Bones voices.
If he agrees, i'm all for it.

You'll find, seeing an old rerun 2000 times is still better then anything new they can make.

Let Trek go "gently into that good night"?

          Yes, just let it die.
With no Gene and no cast members (they're all too old or dead) ... there is nothing that can be done.

          People LOVE Shakespeare.
They love reading the same stories over and over and over again.
They don't need A Tale of Two Cities : The Next Generation and so forth.
Couldn't have said it better that new stuff sucks..........

Akeroid played both Scotty and Bones on the old SNL Star Trek Belushi sketch.
The one where Chevy was Spock.

Yup, this will be one of the big movies for 2009.
Even if some of the older Trek fans who seem to have already decided to hate it before seeing anything other than a few random pictures, this movie will do extremely well at the box office and should generate at least a few sequels.
I for one can't wait to see it as I am very excited about this Trek relaunch.
Capt. Kirk: "Is there anyone on this ship, who even remotely, looks like Satan?"
Mr. Spock: "I am not aware of anyone who fits that description, Captain"
Capt. Kirk: "No, Mr. Spock, I didn't think you would be"

Ok...here's My prediction for the new Trek Movie: If it's well done, and the story is exciting & well written...it will do BIG numbers at the Box Office(despite the die-hard oldtimer Trek Fans, that can't see anybody else but Shatner & Nimoy as Kirk & Spock...like TK1, and probably even Myself).

But what will happen is..."if" the Movie is good...it will create a whole NEW Generation of Star Trek Fans. I have Nephews and such...that won't even give TOS a chance because of the dated FX, and cheesey Sets. Us old time Fans realize it's not about the FX, or the sets...but the acting and dynamic between the cast & crew that make TOS so GREAT! But Kids these Days are to spoiled by Todays trechnolgy...and just can't see past it.

For this "new" generation...Pine & Quinto, WILL be Kirk & Spock!

I actually think it could be said better.

In fact, the Shakespeare analogy actually is more
fuel for the OPPOSITE theory just as "The Bat" pointed out.

The only "big" way new generations of kids enjoy Shakespeare is through
                        movie versions...remakes...of the Bard's stuff.

(And then, of course, there's SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE---pretty much of the
                        same ilk)
