How did Star Trek Voyager last 7 seasons ?

Was just trying to watch an episode of Star TRek Voyager.

Took me a few minutes, then I remembered why I never watched it in the first place ... because it boring as hell

What I don't understand is how it lasted 7 seasons.

Most Trekkies I talk to don't like Voyager ... They rate it as the worst Trek spin-off ......
I 1/2 agree, but I also think Enterprise was just as bad.

So who was watching this show to make it last 7 years ?

Probably because Janeway is pretty sexy! Hey...for an older Gal...She's pretty hot!

Also...I can't think of any TV Shows that were worth watching around that time?

I couldn't get into it either. I know they had the hardcore trek base but they also got some broader audience. I don't think it was ever a smash but it had just enough to keep from going under and lack of replacement shows on UPN was a big factor.

I think it was better than Enterprise and prob about equal to DS9.

Next Gen and Original Series are in a totally different league than the followers.

I bought a collection of about 80 Trek books a few weeks ago. There were maybe a dozen Voyager titles in the lot. I put them in a bag and dropped them in a Goodwill box, and the damn thing spit them back out at me. I think you could put the twenty worst Trek characters from anywhere together and their combined awfulness wouldn't sniff Neelix.

My wife watched it for a short spell, I'm a really lazy guy and I love Star Trek but I think that damned show motivated me to go work out more than anything else. It was dry toast bland!

I liked the entire concept, and I think that Kate Mulgrew was great as Janeway. I just wish that the writers were able to get more of a TOS feel out of the situation they were in. Kirk had time delays talking to starfleet and had to make decisions on his own that could change a planet's history or ruin his career. Voyager was out there on their own, and there didn't seem to be the same angst about the prime directive, etc. (all but like 1 or 2 eps)
                It's all good!

I enjoyed Voyager (and Enterprise) for what it was. However I wasn't real thrilled at the series finally. It wasn't the fact they got home, it was that they didn't show them landing on Earth and celebrating.

I Confess . . . .It was ME. . . I was watching it. It wasn't Janeway. . . it was that 9 years old elfen female Character (Fully matured female that grows older or something) that later became a super - "Q" like being, that Neelix was shagging!

An I didn't watch all of it until a friend of mine raved about it. . .then my wife said she didn't mind it . . so I hired it on videos and watched them all! It was tedious yes. . .but I forced myself! DN'T hold it against me please!

Yep...you hit the nail on the head.

I enjoyed Voyager...but the ending sucked big time...the show actually defeated itself in the end.

Ok, i watched it too. Yep, all 7 years. BUT..... I did a lot of complaning!!!!!!!!
Right from the start i thought they made a mistake. Here is Star Trek the Classic Sci-fi show and WHAT are they doing? They're copying thier worst competion from the sixties. Yes they made "Lost in Space" Trek! They then put them so far out that you knew they would only resovle it in the last episode (which they did Poorly) or make the fans Pay to see a voyager movie after the series ended. Thankfully they just messed with the end of the series.
Then they're are gone all these years meet all these other races and don't wind up with any of them coming home with them to learn from.
but somehow wind up with a human/ borg babe to bring home.
Then there's Janeway from the future making all kind of paradox problems in the finale and yet the temporal police we saw earlier in the show don't show up to stop her!
Don't get me started on the revamped Trek history involved with Enterprise!

but i will say this. what i did like was in all the treks the made characters i could like and maybe care about enough to keep watching. even when they didn't use them well(Kes,Troi,Yoshi).

But i really felt DS9 ended the best of all of them. there was change and promotions and leavings and that went out with style to me.

Now i can only fear for what they are going to do in the new movie!
