I think they believe it's cheaper and easier to retread something proven than take a chance and create something original. A pity really.

NO. . . . .I just heard on the TV this morning that they are looking at doing a Gilligans Island remake.

        Start your Casting Here:

Gilligan : Keanu Reeves (obvious I Know)!
        Skipper : Phillip Seymour Hoffman
Professor : Will Smith or Sylverster Stallone (can't decide. . .it is a tough one).
Mr Howl : William Shatner or Jim Carey (again it's a toss up)
Mrs Howl : Jean Claude Van Damn (yes you heard that right) PROBABLY Will Farrel though!
Ginger : Ginger Spice (Gerry Hallywell)
Maryanne : Sandra Bullock (That ones for YOU Coach!)

OR. . . if they are doing Land of the Lost as a Comedy. . .will they do Gilligans Island as a dramatic character driven piece?????

How can you think of casting the New Gilligans Island when we still haven't come to grips with the fact that Obi Wan lied???

Lo there do I see my Mother and my Sisters and my Brothers.
Lo there do I see the line of my people back to the begining.
            Lo they do call me.
They bid me take my place among them.

Why do they turn the shows into bad comedies? My understanding is thats the root there going with Magnum.

I Think there Just too scared to Go Out on a Limb. They'd rather go with something that has Name Recognition. We need more rebels in the Industry. People that will go against the Norm and make some real Movie Magic.

                      >I Think there Just too scared to Go Out on a Limb.

Pretty much. There's SO MUCH money involved nobody wants to try anything different. Plus, the same old same old actually sells.

                      >They'd rather go with something that has Name Recognition.

That's exactly it. And it doesn't matter WHAT name; as long as it's something people recognize.

                      >We need more rebels in the Industry. People that will go against the Norm and make some real Movie Magic.

Well.... you could use a better AUDIENCE too. If people didn't keep seeing the same old same old, they'd stop making it. You'd need an audience willing to PAY for something new and innovative. It's out there; but you seldom hear about it.

I doubt the A-Team will ever see the light of day. How long has this been talked about and still haven't seen anything?

I have't been happy with any of these tv reimagining or continuations (Mission impossible, Starsky and Hutch, SWAT, etc) except maybe the charlies angels becuase while done campy it continues all the gags from the show as if the show never left the air

neverminds the new tv show remakes (bsg, knight rider, bionic woman)

either way this drivel is why I don't watch tv anymore. Thanks to DVD & VHS I can just watch the shows I want to see
