The 98 Godzilla movie was terrible but I actually didn't mind the redesigned look of Godzilla. The animated series based on the movie was also actually pretty good. G got his fire breath back and fought other giant monsters.

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return... -
>The director of the 2014 Godzilla promised to stay to tradition and keep Godzilla looking like Godzilla
They ALWAYS say that though.... I dunno; I'm still kinda scared.
>I actually didn't mind the 1998 Godzilla movie.
Yeah.... it was a decent giant monster movie, but it wasn't a Godzilla movie. (So; he DODGES attacks now?)
>The animated series based on the movie was also actually pretty good.
It really was. Not very Godzilla, but then again neither was the 70's one. Funny thing: because of the standards of the time, he wasn't allowed to actually ikill the bad guys, and the wanted the fighting kept to a minimum. Hence why he leads just about every bad guy monster through an elaborate set of deathtraps, instead of a straight up fight.

If you're gonna make a Godzilla movie, then make him look like the original, otherwise it ain't Godzilla.
I'm not saying the 98 movie was bad, but it certainly wasn't a Godzilla movie, they should've just called it "Radioactive Lizard" or something"...The agony of my soul found vent in one loud, long and final scream of despair..." - Edgar Allan PoeComment

Please guys, stop referring to Godzilla as Zilla...in Japan, Zilla is that giant iguana from that crappy American Godzilla-wannabe movie. Godzilla blasted and destroyed sorry arse Zilla in mere seconds in the movie, Godzilla: Final Wars.

I really hope this will be awesome, and will be faithful to the Big G.
Apparently there are a couple of new kaiju in the movie, too... including one that supposedly looks a little like the Cloverfield monster.
But alas, it seems that none of Toho's other classic kaiju will appear in the movie.
I guess partially because Toho tend to license their kaiju characters on an individual basis.PUNY HUMANS!Comment

I do not like the possible concept art for this new Godzilla. I think the back spines are too small and he sort of has a bloated "I ate too much" crocodile look"What motivated him to throw a puppy at the Hells Angels is currently unclear,"

Hee heee.... yeah; but I can handle that 'cos it still looks like a Godzilla. I don't have to guess what monster it is. (I'd put him in with the 60's one.... the chubbier one with the weird eyebrow head. '64 maybe? )

oh do not get me wrong, that supposed concept art is soooo much better but still needs a lot of fine tuning in my eyes.>I think the back spines are too small and he sort of has a bloated "I ate too much" crocodile look

Director Gareth Edwards says that if there's a sequel, he'd like to drawn inspiration from Destroy All Monsters and have multiple kaiju in the movie...
But it's unknown if it would involve other licensed Toho monsters or just more new ones invented for the US movie.“With the exception of the 1954 original, I would say my second favorite film is Destroy All Monsters. I just love the idea of a monster island. Having a world with these creatures in it. I find that fascinating and would like to treat that realistically. I wouldn’t want to limit it to one other foe, I think it’s more fun to – this question will come back to haunt me if we ever do a sequel – but I think multiple creatures make better movies in terms of the image of Gojira.”
At Comic-Con 2013, director Gareth Edwards opened-up about the process of redesigning 'Godzilla' for his modern reboot - as well as sequel ideas.
