I saw this this morning and I was tickled poopless over the fact that it looks like the new Godzilla will ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE GODZILLA!!! Hopefully, this telling of the big 'Zilla's tale (pardon the pun) will be leaps and bounds better than the abomination that was released in 1998...
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

        ....this is gonna be awesome.

The thing that has me psyched from this, is how massive Godzilla is going to be. Look at the scale of a helicopter compared to just ONE Fragment of the tail.

        Holy heck.

I love the classic look so far with the littel snippets we've seen, but I can't help but feel they are exaggerating the size of Godzilla. That's a little much if that's what they have on-screen. They h ave been known to exaggerate before for teaser posters...

I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

Ok now my tail is in between my legs now. That movie poster makes Zilla look huge. But in that movie, I didn't find Zilla to be that big.

Ill retreat back to my cave

I actually didn't mind the 1998 Godzilla movie. It wasn't Godzilla but it was a cool movie!

The director of the 2014 Godzilla promised to stay to tradition and keep Godzilla looking like Godzilla.

              We shall see

Yeah---TRI-STAR got a bit carried away with the hyping of GINO's size in the '98 debacle, not only in this poster, but also in the teaser trailer that was run with MIB in the summer of '97 where GINO's foot comes down into the museum. That teaser, though, along with hearing the traditional Godzilla roar, got me really excited for the movie. It wasn't until MIB41 and I plunked our butts in the theater seats that we realized just what a failed effort the movie was. Hopefully, with the state of visual EFX these days and the caliber of folks signed on for this outing, 2014 will put the big lizard back where he belongs in the pantheon of movie monsters!

Found this over on AICN. Someone snapped it out in San Diego and it's a "concept" of what the Legendary GODZILLA might look like, which is cool with me 'cause he LOOKS more like the Godzilla I know and less like a really large, slightly mutated chameleon...

                  godzilla-concept.jpg

If you click on the pic, it should get a little larger (I think)...

I didn't mind the 1998 undertaking when it stuck with GINO. The various GINO/Military fight scenes were okay and the last sequence when GINO rises up from under the bombed MSG and chases the taxi through Manhattan was pretty good (but DO NOT get me started on the whole taxi-cab-driving-out-of-his-mouth idiocy!). My problem lies with all of the connective tissue in the movie. I still have to sit and wonder what casting person thought that having Matthew Broderick in a Godzilla movie was a good idea (and then tacking on the whole unfunny "no one can pronounce my name right" schtick was just adding salt to the wound). And the idiot Mayor and his idiot advisor----UGH!!!! I'm sure Roger Ebert was totally unamused and poor Gene Siskel was likely a whirling dervish in his grave!

Looks promising, I really hope they don't screw it up. I already had my heart broken once (I'm looking at you Tri-Star!)

Looks like the co-producers are Warner, Legendary, Toho and Disruption Entertainment. Warner Bros. will be the distributor worldwide except in Japan, where Toho will distribute.

But i'm wondering who will have the last word on everything (design, story etc.) ... Toho ? (hopefully)

I actually really liked the 98 Godzilla's design...those opening scenes with the lizards watching the nuclear tests was pretty cool.
Unfortunately, the movie lost me completely when the big G started having babies.

Nice poster! I'm impressed thus far with what I'm seeing. I hope this time marketing doesn't turn into a anatomy gallery to avoid revealing his look like they did with the 1998 version. "Look! It's his foot! His arm! His nail! His eye! His..." Well you get the picture. At some point they need to just let this guy come out in the open. Because if he's truly bad arse, then showing him can only excite the masses. Hopefully notes were taken on that last outing and we'll truly get a Godzilla film this time. Looking forward to it.
