You need Darren McGavin, Lara Parker and JoAnn Phlug to have a hit.

I think that a young Jan Michael Vincent had the right anti-establishment/bada$$ feel to be cast as Daryl.

Since Ken Foree was a little too on the nose, I was going to suggest Bill Duke for T-Dog but he was better known in the 80's so how about...

          Yaphet Kotto.

Louise Lasser (from Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman) as Lori.

He's already got experience playing a cop so Kent McCord as Rick.

Kristy McNichol is a good pick but has a little too much 'tude even as a kid, how about Kim Richards as Sophia.

Bringing a different vibe to Carl would be Scott Jacoby.

For Dale I felt Burgess Meredith too obvious and went with Barnard Hughes.

And lastly as Andrea, the vastly under-utilized in the 1970s - JoAnna Cameron.

edit: I hate to leave this half done - plus I came up with perfect 70s Glenn, so here's the rest of the cast:

As an alternate to the unbeatable Pam Grier - the bad-azz & beautiful Gloria Hendry as Michonne.

Another Governor hailing from the UK - Patrick McGoohan.

Tom Laughlin (Billy Jack) as Shane

Kris Kristofferson as Merle (and he'd already played JMV's brother in Vigilante Force).

          Buddy Ebsen as Herschel

Lastly (again) as Glenn - Brian Tochi of Omega Man, Anna and the King (TV series), Amazing Chan and the Chan Clan and Razzmatazz.

Great picks ,I had debated on putting Tom Laughlin in for the Governor.
