I finally got a copy of this. I was waiting to see if anyone picked it up as a Christmas present for me. Since no one did, I treated myself, and actually caught it on sale at Amazon (around $16! It's since gone back up).
It more than lives up to the hype. Just the items themselves are breathtaking. The photography is top-notch. The design is a bit-artsy, but not overwrought. It's beautifully laid out. Hammet has just enough of himself in it to show how passionate he is about this, not to gloat about his celebrity status. His captions are a lot of fun and honest.
I'm not even a die-hard monster collector (although I keep getting more and more stuff...) but this has a permanent place in my library for sure.
Between this and Rack Toys, I don't see how the rest of the year can stack up with good books.
