I heard a long interview with the guys who originally wrote "Wanted". They talked about how they were all excited Timur Bekmambetov was considering directing their script - then he walked into the meeting saying random things like "I vant there to be a loom..." and all these other wacky ideas. He kicked them off the movie to hire writers who would add all his crazy ideas - then he had to hire them back because the script was such a mess he couldn't possibly shoot it.

They were happy - they made lots of money and the movie did well - but you could tell they thought Bekmambetov was insane.

Is that Johnny Cash reciting Bible verse in the trailer? I know he did a recording of the Bible, so I guess they lifted it from that?

Now, that would make a good movie. Johnny Cash: Vampire Hunter. NOW we know why he always dresses in black!!!

That's such a strange line up of ideas. I can't wrap my hands around the concept. What's next? Mr. Clean fights the Toxic Avenger?

^I thought so too, but I'm really enjoying the book. The movie looks to have over-amped the Post-Matrix action just like almost every other action film in the last decade. I have yet to read where Abe runs up a wall and does a spinning kick with his long coat flying like a propeller. The action in the book is far more subdued and believable (well, as believable as you can get with vampires!).

I was also hesitant when I first started reading it for the same reasons, but really well done. Look forward to seeing the movie.

I read the book last year, just for kicks, and found it to be surprisingly good. (Which is one of the reasons that I thought Dark Shadows would end up with a great script...jury still out on that one.) Like E2C said, he draws you in with reality then carefully steers you into a dark (yet fun) journey into the secret life of good ol' Abe.

As for this trailer, while some of the fighting scenes are way over the top, the overall treatment looks seriously epic.

Most unfortunate that I cannot say the same for the Dark Shadows trailer.

I got to see the trailer for this before The Hunger Games. I've only ever heard of this by name only and the title reminded me of Pride and Prejudice with Zombies. The packed theater actually laughed at the premise and not in a good way. I'm going to go on record here and predict this to be a bomb. This is where Vampires jump the shark. The concept seems kind of tasteless too in that their taking an actual president, a real person who stood for some great things and was murdered in cold blood and making him into Blade. Really? I guess he's been dead long enough to have it come to this but consider if the title was John Kennedy Vampire Hunter. The thing is that I don't get offended by anything ever and I realize it's just a movie but this trailer just hit a nerve. Somethings just should not be....

^I thought the same things, and then I read the book. It's more of an alternate history treatment than shock-exploitation. Although the verdict is still out on the movie adaptation.
