    Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

    The trailer is finally here:

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter Trailer (No. 1) - IMDb

Hollywood continues with it's flashy big budget B-movies.

Is it just me who is bored with heroes with Matrix kung-fu superhuman abilities? Aren't action movies MORE interesting when the hero is up against odds that seem unbeatable?

AH - so that's the vampires with the axes?! Oh man, I got confused - I thought everyone was jumping around all kung-fu in this.

Wait, so he IS going to be superhuman in this thing? He split that tree in half with one chop - and was doing all kinds of kung-fu moves with the ax.

(What do I know, I thought it was George Washington who chopped down trees! )

Might be fun. I haven't read the book. Probably a renter down the line.

The book is really good. I think Tim Burton is taking some artistic license with the kung-fu moves and one chop on the tree. He isn't superhuman in the book....he is just farm strong and especially good with an ax from all of the manual labor. In the book, he honed his ax using skills and I won't go into any more detail, but he didn't have any strength beyond what has been stated repeatedly in history books which is to say he was pretty physically strong.

^^Burton didn't direct, the guy that directed Wanted did.

Thanks for clarifying. Looks like Burton is producing it. I saw his name in the trailer and falsely assumed he was the director.

                              New trailer:

BD Horror News - New 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter' Trailer Goes Light On Winstead, Heavy On The Axe!

I've started reading the book. My wife brought it home from her library. I didn't know if I wanted to read it or not. I've always been fascinated by Lincoln. He was a boyhood hero of mine. Just like when I first saw the Presidential Monsters, my old stuffiness was slightly offended.

But I gotta say, Gramme-Smith so far has done an excellent job of combining fact with far-out ficiton. He starts out with pure history, and slowly peppers in the supernatural, until he opens the flood gates. By that point, you are ready for it.

The movie looks to up the action A LOT. Still looks entertaining and worth seeing. I probably will go see this in theaters now, if I get the chance (no kids).

Odd that Gramme-Smith worked on the Dark Shadows script, and it looks like an out-and out comedy, while this SOUNDS like a comedy, but looks deadly serious. The book is, thus far.
