    Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein!

Probably the all time greatest comedy ever from that era. Plus on top of that you get all the monsters minus creature from the black lagoon!

Even the invisible man was in it at the end (Vincent Price voice)

Not sure anything could top it in my opinion!

Lots of love for it. I've gone on about it in several other threads, so I won't repeat myself here, but it's a must-see every Halloween. Pure cinematic joy.

Without question. That film was a perfect mixture of horror and comedy ever combined into one feature film. In many ways, it has held up even better than the individual films for each of those monsters. And the irony to all of this? Abbott and Costello HATED the script. Costello even went as far as to say his own daughter could write a better script! They really didn't want to make the film at all. But it became the most successful and enduring film of their career. It's scary to think this film almost didn't get made!

That didn't stop them from making several other monster movies, though did it?!? I guess money talks, even though Bud and Lou almost walked!!!

I consider A&CMF several notches above the later UM sequels, especially the House movies. Those are fun, but the writing in those (especially the treatment of brain transplants) does seem like they were written by (or at least, for) children. I wouldn't put it above Frankenstein, Bride or The Wolfman, but I'd much rather watch it than Dracula, due to the dull pacing and cinematogrophy.

This movie is credited for reviving the Universal monster movies which had a big revival in the 50's and 60's

I thought it was the opposite...it was the end of the golden age of the monster mash and the classic Universal monster cycle.

I love the movie...especially seeing the Wolf Man chasing a scared Dracula...my kinda scene...punkass vampires...

It's weird thinking Bella was Drac only for the second time in A&CMF

No, Because of the success of the movie, Universal had them make

Abbott and Costello Meet the Invisible Man
Abbott and Costello Meet Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy

When these movies proved very succesful it lead to Creature from the Black Lagoon being made......that proved to be a huge hit for them Universal repacked the Old monster movies as Double features which eventually lead to them being played on late night TV in the 60's and 70's......

Yeah by todays standards he would have done at least 2 more of them.......

Bela played drac differently in Abbott and Costello to me. I like the movie alot.
When did the Hammer films start getting made?

it was a worldwide hit followed by The horror of Dracula a year later.
