First and foremost, Boris Karloff... I've met his daughter, Sarah a couple of times here in Louisville. She even came once to our convention, Wonderfest. A beautiful person her dad would be so proud to see these days, especially in how she honors his name, both as an actor and his private life. I've got her autograph that says, "Beast" wishes.

Before I continue I want to know if anyone here is familiar with or has met Bob Burns? The world's greatest collector of Hollywood props. If your a Universal fan, you would envy his collection of actual artifacts. He has Glenn Strange's boots from Abbott and Costello meets Frankenstein and even possesses the Frankenstein head piece used in that feature. Yes, I know... How could that piece of rubber survive all of those years? Bob says Glenn kept it in a PAPER BAG and somehow it just survived all of those years in his closet into the 60's. He just pulled it out one day and asked him if he wanted it!!! Bob then preserved it from that point forward...incredible.

I made it to Wonderfest a couple of years ago, when Bob had the armatures for King Kong and Mighty Joe Young on display. That was also the first year that the Universal Monster Army had their UMA Toy Tour. Awesome stuff!

Thanks Ramsey. Bob has become a regular and should be back for 2008, which will occur in July this time. We are also moving it across the street to the Fairgrounds because Executive West is getting a makeover. Check out our link... WonderFest USA - A Weekend of Fun for Movie and Model Fans!

                    In my humble opinion...

If you want to get that technical about it, Frankenstein is as much sci-fi as the Creature from the Black Lagoon. Science and man's interference with nature, not supernatural elements, created the monsters.

And although Creature was in fact a much newer film, it's still a Universal monster flick, so I'd definitely group it amongst the earlier ones.

                    My top three:

                    1. Frankie's Monster, without a doubt. I feel so much for the poor creature, I always find myself rooting for him...and Boris Karloff is GOD.

                    2. Creature from the Black Lagoon...probably the scariest monster for me.

                    3. The Wolf-Man...I also feel for poor ol' Talbot, the only one of the bunch who wants to off himself.

I hate Dracula, I always wanted him DEAD...lol.

Karloff as THE Monster is outstanding. He makes the character pathetic and chilling all at once. And in the Bride, he even did comedy.

The Wolfman — The monster make-up by Pierce is fantastic and even though Chaney gives a ham-fisted performance you still have empathy for poor Larry Talbot.

Ygor — Lugosi looked great as Dracula, but I think his best acting was as Ygor in Son of Frankenstein, particularly in the court scenes. I really wish Sideshow would make a 12-incher of YGor.

Yes, to me, the Creature scared me the most as a kid.

The Wolf-Man was a close second.

As a kid I too would vote creature from black lagoon-scared crap outta me when his hand reached through the porthole of boat. As an adult I like Frankenstien monster(Karloff) cuz I like the acting...It gets to me in certain scenes like the flower scene with the little girl by pond-I personally feel Karloff was underated as an actor due to the genre of movies he was in.
