I don't understand where they pulled the 100 years from? Does concrete start to disintegrate after 100 years or something?

I enoyed this season. the end was a little weak and I thought they took the character of Sam way off base but we will see.
I tried reading one of the books before the series started and just could not get into it.....like someone else said, it was too chick oriented.....chick lit I think it was called...LOL
I like the show though and have gotten the wife hooked on it now too. that were panther Crystal is hot...
