What did you guys think of this season? Seemed like a relatively low key finale compared to the past.

I was extremely disappointed.
They juggled a bunch of storylines this season, the majority of which were kinda lame, but I stuck with them hoping for some payout at the end. But then they decide to leave them all as cliffhangers? Weak.
The only thing we got "resolved" was the Russell storyline, and that was kinda a weak finish too. At the end of the last episode, they already had him beaten. Then they decide that no, they really need to end it a different way... some interesting philosophizing there, I suppose, but it didn't make for a gripping climax.
And frankly, I'm not really on pins & needles on any of the dozen cliffhangers... except, surprisingly, Hoyt & Jessica. Who was Hoyt's momma planning on shooting? And what was the deal with that creepy doll?
This season, the characters were written very unevenly and their actions were all over the place. But the past two seasons were great fun, so I will just give it a mulligan. I just hope next season they tighten things up. -
I've only just started watching True Blood, so I can't really judge.
All I can say is that I have a cult sensibility, and there's a lot of effed-up outrageousness in the show to love, but it's paced very strangely. It's more like watching a novel than an episodic TV show. Each episode in and of itself seems very short on plot and/or resolution. Which is fine, but unusual and makes for somewhat strange and unfulfilling viewing experience.
I'm getting a little annoyed with the soap-opera nature of Sookie and Bill's relationship. Maybe because I haven't been involved from the beginning, I don't know. Maybe because I'm not drawn in to the characters. As of yet nobody's really grabbed me.
On the plus side, baby vamp Jessica is a delight to watch. So maybe she's the most interesting to me on the show.Comment

I was disappointed with the Russel storyline. It peaked at the TV studio when that could have been the start of some really hellacious mayhem.
I agree the characters were all over the place. I don't get Sam at all, and Bill just seemed random...It's like the whole season was a bridge to next season of witches and faeries. This profile is no longer active.Comment

The doll i think was telling the watchers that Hoyt's ex(the blonde dippy chick) was not done with him and is coming for revenge. Didn't she collect dolls?Comment

You've hit the nail on the head. Given the fact that the main spine of each season is based on a novel, but seemingly stuffed with filler story-lines to round out the other characters who are simply ancillary in the books.
I attempted to read the novel that this season was based on since I liked the previous seasons. It turns out that it's total chick-lit and I found it pretty unreadable since it's told from Sookie's 1st person in this Bridgette Jones style. Much of it is along the lines of "I got this really hot dress, and that ***** is totally jealous of me". It's really the strength of the ensemble that keeps this show afloat and accessible to a wider audience than the books.
I think the reason Jessica is such a delight to watch is that she's an original character not beholden to the novels. I'd actually prefer to watch a show centred around her.Comment

I feel like the show jumped the shark somewhere back in season 2. This season didn't feel right to me. I hated most of the storylines. Especially Jason's story. I liked Hoyt(?) and Jessica's story the most and it was a back up story.Comment

I really enjoyed the first season, but the series began to lose its way during the second season and into the third by attempting to shock and/or titillate with sex and gore instead of telling a strong story.
Frankly, I found The Gates to be more interesting storywise.
I would agree that Jessica and Hoyt along with Lafayette are the best storylines. Most of the characters have become extremely unlikable.
At least Entourage had a strong season.Comment

Entourage really seems to have found it's second wind this season. It feels like there are some real stakes with Vinnie's meltdown for all the characters involved.
It's incredible what a sympathetic character Ari has become, particularly as his marriage falls apart, and not just due to his hubris but his loyalty and fidelity as well.Comment

First of all, I HATE Entourage...so please...don't mention that show in this thread...
I do enjoy True Blood...yes...it's mostly silly, but it's fun, nice, sexy, and gory.
I have absolutely NO idea whatsoever why Eric chose to keep Russell alive.
Just to torture him for 100 years?
When Russell gets freed...Eric better be living in Mars...lol.
It was nice to see the "spirit" of Godric though...I wish he was "alive"...he is the only one who could defeat Russell one-on-one.
I hate Bill...I hope the queen smashes him, lol.
The fairy thing is silly, but oh well...what the heck, lol.
Witches next season?
Well...we already had them...Lafayette's nurse boyfriend.
The werepanther hillbilly storyline was pointless...just another excuse to showcase the continuing bumbling adventures of Sookie's imbecilic brother....yawn.
Sam's 180 turn...I just didn't like it...but I don't think he really shot his brother in the back...perhaps his leg though.
Tara...oh Tara...I hope you never come back...you were BY FAR...the most ANNOYING character in True Blood.
And finally, the werewolves, talk about being completely useless...lol.sigpicComment

LOL...Hec I agree on several points...LOL
Bill is beginning to annoy me Tara I hope is gone
I do like Jason though he is underused in my opinion.
Sam being an evil vicious killer I just had a hard time believing.
I hope Eric kicks bills behind for his betrayal.
Werewolves boring....
were-panther really boring.
I also agree Godric had huge potential but they killed him off way too soon.
Russell alive????
Why,if Eric got free then it should be even more likely that Russell will get out.
Eric had Pam,I'm sure Russell sired several progeny in his day.“When you say “It’s hard”, it actually means “I’m not strong enough to fight for it”. Stop saying its hard. Think positive!”Comment
