    The Descent 2

I loved the first one, six women duking it out with creepy crawlers in a cave, so I decided to try this one, seeing that most of the original team was back.

Well, Marshall should have directed himself.
The feel was all wrong. It felt like a cheap knock-off.
These caves (which should be the same as before) are nice and cosy and dry. Well-lit. Not like the old caves, which were cold, wet, claustrophobic. It didn't have that "dark ages" feel anymore. Add the stereotype narrowminded cop, of course.

I don't know, after ten minutes I was bored already.
Apparently, the team felt the same, because halfway through, they went for extreme gore (never seen so many necks being ripped out), and all the moody feel from part 1 was gone.

And why did the surviving two women of part 1 suddenly have a beef over hubby sleeping with her best friend? Was that even hinted at in part 1?

    I hate sloppy sequels....

Can't say I loved it, but the first one was pretty good. But knowing how sequels usually go, I decided not to even bother with the second one. Apparently I guessed right.

I liked the first movie, but always felt the monsters in the second half of the film didn't come anywhere near the real-life terror captured in the first half of the film where the women were dealing with the cave-in, claustrophobia and basic survival.

It was actually a major plot point from the first film. The one friend distanced herself from the other out of guilt and her own grief when the husband and daughter died at the beginning of the movie. The caving adventure was her attempt to rekindle the friendship.

The woman who had the affair with the other's dead husband, accidentally kills the third friend. The woman with dead husband finds the third friend just before she dies, and tells her that it was the adulterous friend that did her in reveals the affair to her.

Thus the antagonism between the two women at the end of the first film, that led to the one purposefully injuring the other and leaving her for dead in the caves.
