Mine was Prince's album 1999...bought at Woolworths.
I remember rushing home to record it on Cassette.

I've still got the record...haven't got the tape anymore.

Like Wrathdemon, I heard primarily Beatles growing up ~ My brother was 15 in '70 and I remember him walking home with Let It Be (first Beatle album he bought..), then the rest followed shortly. I had the Monkees of course, the 'Barrel Full' album was the first I bought with my money (like $5.99 or something, expensive for '71).. I just threw out my last surviving Elvis 8-track yesterday. I kept it as a momentum all these years..

My brother never handed me down any of his albums.. I had to buy my own, mostly my Mom finding them at rummage sales for a quarter.

BIG FIND..: She brought me home a covered 'Butcher Cover', purchased for a quarter. I still have it in my collection..! With that and buying used Megos for under a buck back then, rummage sales ruled!!

I remember buying the Space:1999 soundtrack album (not the kid stories..). Man, talk about an album I wore out..!

Aside from buying used records, the first ones I bought when they first came out were 'Give Me Love' by George Harrison, and yes, 'Cover of the Rolling Stone', Dr. Hook.

One of the singles off ABBA Arrival, can't remember which one. (Good taste you ABBA fans!

Top call Bill on Video Killed the Radio Star, still one of my all time favourite songs, along with Echo Beach.

Also remember pestering Mum into buying "Up There Cazaly" (An Aussie Rules Football anthem) when I was 7 or 8, it's still sung at the Grand Final every year 30 years later.
